DS Exclusive: The Murderburgers stream new album, “What a Mess”

Ever-touring Scottish pop-punk band, The Mudderbuggers have a new album, What a Mess, releasing March 15 in a spiffy little bundle, through Umlaut Records. Pre-orders for that are available here. It’s also being made available on vinyl through Asian Man (USA), Brassneck (Europe), and Waterslide Records (Japan), and we’ve got that album streaming in-full for you, below. What do ya’ know? Care for a gander?

“We bring you this album because you just cannae say nay to Fraser Macncheese’s wee face! Bless his punk rock godlike cotton socks!”

That’s what the big time Umlaut Records executives are saying over at the label, and who am I to argue? He does seem a charming lad, with the rest of the band steeped in DIY ethic and tradition – who’ve hitched up the wagon and played 100+ shows a year over the course of the last decade – trying to gain the coveted #1 Scottish musical export spot.

What a Mess starts off with a lonely tribute highlighting a recurring basis of self-realization in the album, and the feeling that you may have been taken a shit on, and it takes off in a punk rock blitzkrieg from the moment the music picks up. Then it yanks you by the back of your jacket a few songs in and starts dragging you along for the ride. Thematically the album focuses on loss, regret, and depression with a final ringing bell of closure in the lines “You need to make some things die. so that you can stay alive.”

Welcome to your 30’s.

Currently, you can find the band on a tour swinging through the U.S. before heading back up to the U.K. Check out those dates below.
