Dying Scene Records to release first plugged-in album “Holy Shit” from Chicago acoustic punk act Davey Dynamite

I must admit, when a promo from some Chicago based artist named “Davey Dynamite” hit my inbox a couple weeks ago I did not think I was about to discover the next Dying Scene Records band or what would become one of my top 3 favorite albums of 2016 – I mean, the cover art and the band name didn’t exactly conjure up a mental image of the angst ridden punk rock I typically like to put out on the label. Regardless, I jacked in the headphones, spun up the first track and found myself intrigued 30 seconds in. It appeared to be a catchy yet slower tune but there were hints of a build and by the 1:55 mark, HOLY SHIT!, things just exploded into the saliva spraying, vein popping, voice losing fury that embodies everything I love about punk rock. Turns out this first track was but just a taste of what the rest of the album would hold and by the time I reached the last song I knew I had discovered something extraordinary special. Something I had to share with all of you, starting with the album’s title track, “Holy Shit” which you can check out right here.

On December 20th Dying Scene Records will be releasing “Holy Shit”, the first fully plugged-in album from Chicago acoustic-punk act Davey Dynamite.

If you’re new to Davey Dynamite he is as political as he is emotional and you might say he is the folk-gone-electric lineage of O Pioneers! and Against Me! born anew in the vein of Chicago punk rock.

While Dying Scene Records is handling digital distribution, the folks at Don’t Panic Records & Distro are handling vinyl, which you can pre-order here.

Half of proceeds collected for this album will be donated to the water protectors fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock.
