The San Francisco Chronicle interviews American Steel. The interview gets into the history behind the band name, how the band came together and the making of their albums. Lead vocalist Rory Henderson talks about their album, “Dear Friends and Gentle Hearts,” which was released July of this year of Fat Wreck Chords. Henderson says, of the albums first track “Emergency House Party”:
I wrote it on the day of a last-minute house party we threw…It was the middle of winter and we were bored and everyone was pretty depressed. I said, “You know what, stop whining. Let’s have a party tonight.” Someone poured oil on the floor and there was dancing. We called it the Crisco disco. … I think it set the tone for the record.
