In an interview interesting article with Rolling Stone Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker confirms that the band will indeed be releasing a new EP by Christmas and it will feature one Christmas themed song and one ” very folky” song. Perhaps more interesting, Barker states that fans can expect a better quality release than Blink 182’s last full-length “Neighborhoods.”
“To me already, this EP is a hundred times better than Neighborhoods. Because we’re all in a room together. There’s some songs on there that I love, but for the most part it was disconnected It was like, ‘You do this part in your studio, and then you’re gonna play on it and send it back to me.’ When we’re not in the studio together, you don’t have the opportunity to gel off each other.”
The new EP will be a precursor to a new full-length which the band hopes to release by the end of 2013. We’ll keep you posted as more details surface.
Blink released “Neighborhoods” in 2011, as their last album on longtime label Interscope. The band has not made any announcements regarding new labels for the upcoming record.
