Fat Mike goes into the restaurant business

fat-mikeApparently being lead singer in a legendary punk band and running one of punk rock’s most influential record labels doesn’t keep NOFX frontman and Fat Wreck Chords owner “Fat” Mike Burkett busy enough.  It seems the punk rock icon is now adding “Restaurant Owner” to his growing resume.  According to this article Fat Mike has joined veteran restaurateur David Massoni and local East Village bartender John Bush to open Thistle Hill Tavern on the corner of 15th Street and 7th Avenue in New York City.  It’s not open yet, but it’s coming soon.

Is it just me or does Mike look like Eric Cartman in that picture?

It’s the 7th Ave and 15th Street in Brooklyn.

It’s gonna be in Park Slope, unfortunately. So you’ll probably have to dodge a few overpriced cadillac strollers and navigate around unchecked toddlers to eat there. Unless Fat Mike’s influence makes it delightfully un-family-friendly.

That said, I hope they’ll have dishes called “Green Corn” and “Vegetarian Mumbo Jumbo.” Maybe some “Bob Turkee” with a side of “Spaghetti Motel.” I’ll stop now.
