Ian MacKaye talks about releasing Fugazi live shows as downloads

Earlier today, Fugazi frontman Ian MacKaye was interviewed by WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi Show, where he discusses the semi-defunct band’s decision to release their live shows as downloads, which surfaced last month. You can listen to a recording of the broadcast here.

Last month Fugazi officially launched a website to distribute tracks of their 800 live shows, with the first batch of 130 going up today. For the band, the goal of this project is to make each of these recordings available to download for a small fee. You can support their DIY effort here.

Although Fugazi have never officially disbanded, they have been on an indefinite hiatus since the 2001 release of their most recent studio album The Argument.
