Jake Hanson steps down as drummer for Eken Is Dead

Los Angeles based hardcore group Eken Is Dead have announced today that Jake Hanson will step down as drummer after completing the shows they currently have scheduled.

You can read a statement from Hanson and the remaining members of the band below.

The group last released “What Lies In The Mirror” in 2012.

Jake Hanson’s Statement:

Well, the past 2 years have been awesome, I’ve met a lot of awesome people and played with a lot of great bands and also made some friends along the way. I’ve got to travel and see Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and all of Northern California, these were all great experiences, but due to unforeseen circumstances I must leave Eken is Dead. It has been an honor to share and play on stage with these dudes and not to mention writing some pretty awesome music. I will be finishing out the rest of the shows in June and return for my final show in September. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and came to shows but I now must move on to the next chapter in my life. To the guys in the band, you have been great and thank you for all the great memories that I will have for a lifetime.

Thanks for an awesome time,
-Jake Hanson

Remaining members:

As for Gagg, Chris and I, we love and appreciate Jake for all he’s accomplished with us. We wish him nothing but the best. It seems our shows next week at Boar Cross’n, The Crest Sports Bar and Grill and The Artistic Armory in Vegas will have extra significance. Details about the sendoff at Saint Rocke in September will follow, but rest assured, we will be working hard on new music, a video in our continued support of #outlier and maybe a surprise or two no one sees coming. Thank you all for your continued support of this collective dream. We couldn’t do it without you.
