It’s been 5 long years since Gainesville, Florida ska punk staples Less Than Jake have released their last full-length album, “GNV FLA”. Granted we’ve had a couple EPs and some reissues to hold us over but it looks like we can finally expect a new, proper full-length later this year. The band states:
“I loved the quickness of writing and recording the e.p. format, you can dance around in style, not really have to have a theme lyrically like when you do when you happen to be writing for a full length record. I always thought that full lengths records were reserved for the moments when a band has something to say that needs to be driven home. Anyway, being able to cut songs and recording into chunks served our band well during the last few years, allowing us to equally concentrate on our 20 year anniversary as a band and be at home with our new expanding families.
Now, On our 21st year being a band we have been writing new songs for a full length, a complete thought musically and lyrically. It’s cool place to be collectively writing and shaping new songs and knowing its for a full length, Atleast for me – it has and put me in a different mindset.”
The band last released “Greetings and Salutations” on January 8th via Fat Wreck Chords. The album was a combination of their last two EPs with the addition of a couple unreleased songs.
