Olga of Svetlanas on her involvement in the KGB and how they invented punk rock

Olga sings in the relocated Soviet punk band Svetlanas.  When asked how it was she got into punk rock this was her response.  If you have no idea what she’s talking about, don’t worry.  Neither do we.

First punk rock song ever has been composed and performed during the spring of 1970 in a secret military laboratory near Moscow.

It was catchy riff and violent rhythm that was was secret formula to Influence masses of young kids and spread the Word of Mother Russia worldwide.

Having a touring band in that context was perfect vehicle to export the Soviet message, infiltrate foreign nations and get in touch with our local informers. We had PLENTY of them everywhere.

This secret weapon took the name of ‘Mission Svetlanas’ in 1971. I was a 21 years old agent specialized in sabotage and telecommunications and that was my second assignment at K.G.B. so I can tell my approach to punk music was merely professional.

Don’t blame me if you see a big smile on my face every time I hear people arguing about punk rock being native English or American music. If most of you still talks about this shit it’s because at that time we did great job!

Ramones ‘Rocket to Russia’ is the most theatrical demonstration of our ability to influence our foreign colleagues. I have many of example like this but I don’t want to bore you with all this old fashioned stories, but…OK…did you know that McLaren/Westwood famous shop in London was one of our unit in United Kingdom? It was what we call a “Soviet EXchange unit” that’s why it has been cleverly named SEX.

In the last 30 years I’ve seen many movies describing the K.G.B. like a cruel organization but it’s all bullshit! K.G.B. wasn’t a monster at all. Russia is my mother and the K.G.B was like an older wise and protective BIG BROTHER if you know what it is I mean.

Believe my words and you are with me, if you don’t it’s not a problem at all, but if you are still wondering what that strange sounds you always hear during your phone conversations is, you could already have the answer.
