Rob Caggiano leaves Anthrax

Rob Caggiano, who has been the lead guitarist for NYC thrash outfit Anthrax since 2001, has finally decided to call it quits.

Here’s what Rob had to say,

…It’s been a wild ride (to say the least) from Day One and I wouldn’t change one single thing about the last 12 years. This is an extremely difficult and emotional decision for me to make but my heart is just steering me in a different direction right now. I’ve always been one to follow my heart in everything that I do and while this might be one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, it feels like the right one for me at this time…

Rob already has his hand in several other projects including The Damned Things, The Agony Scene, Ill Niño, and grammy nominated Cradle of Filth album, “Nymphetamine.”

Anthrax still plans to tour with Exodus, Hell on Fire, Municipal Waste and  Holy Grail in the upcoming future, but for now they are considering many options for Caggiano’s replacement. It is rumored that Dan Spitz has been asked by fans to rejoin the band. Spitz was apart of Anthrax from 1983 – 1995 and 2005 – 2007.
