Ever wonder where some bands come up with their band names? Well, we do, and we’re sick of sitting around scratching our heads about it. We’re hitting the streets (aka. “Internet”) to find the origins behind some of the more bizarre, intriguing or just plain random band names in the scene. Every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back on a different band and this week it’s Reno, Nevada’s psychobilly/punk band Cobra Skulls.
We caught up with band member Devin Peralta (bass and vocals) who filled us in on how the band decided on the name “Cobra Skulls”.
“It’s not a great story. Basically we were trying to think of the greatest name any band could have in the history of the Universe…Chad started saying “Something with ‘skulls’ in the name” and I was thinking “cobra has to be in it”, and then I said, “Cobra Skulls” and then Chad looked at me and said “Cobra Skulls?” and I looked at him and said “Yah, Cobra Skulls” and then Chad looked at me and smiled and then I saw he had a giant erection so I went home to take a hot shower, but I just couldn’t wash away the Cobra Skulls. So it stuck…”
And there you have it… some team work and a hot shower and they discovered the answer to the greatest name in history for a band… or at least the greatest name with “Cobra” and “Skulls” in it.
