Substream describe the song as sounding like Goldfinger or Blink-182. Not entirely sure about that one, this comes across more in the vein of The Loved Ones in much the same way as their previous release. Give the tune a listen below.

The band’s frontman Mike McColgan (above, right) has posted a few pictures of he and guitar player Rick Barton (above, left, most recently better known from Continental) holed up with producer Andrew Dickson (above, center) at the latter’s studio in Nashville, Tennessee, where they’re hard at work on a follow-up to their 2014 debut, Truth, Love & Liberty. Yes, that’s right, it’s somehow been more than five years since the duo teamed up with McColgan’s fellow Street Dog Johnny Rioux (who’s currently out on the road as part of another fellow Street Dog’s band, Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One) and a few friends for the release of that album, which mixed folk rock, classic rock, and very traditional (read as: Revolutionary War-era) Americana sounds for one of the most unique albums of that particular year.
A little bird told us that McColgan and Barton and their eventual filled-out lineup are hoping to put out their new album later this year, and to play a handful of shows, probably on the East Coast, when the time comes. Stay tuned, boys and girls!

Formerly of California-based Sessions Records, Downway (ffo: Goldfinger, Lagwagon) have recently come out of retirement and signed with Thousand Islands Records to release a new album, Last Chance for More Regrets. It drops May 1, and is the band’s first release since their split with Belvedere in 2003.
15 years is a long time to be away from the studio, but all early previews of the new album indicate that Downway, who reformed in 2017 after a lengthy hiatus, haven’t quite lost their touch. Last Chance for More Regrets promises more of the same anthemic 90’s-style melodic skate punk that initially earned them a few stints on the Warped Tour docket, and even a video spot on the historically beloved MTV network, before it was taken over by the Kardashians.
Since the band’s newfound rejuvenation they have toured western Canada as well as Japan, with more Canadian tour dates to look forward to surrounding the release of the upcoming LP. Today, I’m proud to showcase for you all their latest single, “Wild Ones”. If you’re a fan of catchy hooks, poppy harmonies, and energetic palm mute sections to bounce your head to, then this jam is one you may want to consider. You can stream “Wild Ones” as well as view Downway’s fast-approaching tour schedule below. Cheers!

Boston, Massachusetts native son Bryan McPherson has unveiled a new video, and this one is near and dear to our hearts for a few reasons. It’s for a track called “Ghost of My Hometown,” and it was filmed in and around McPherson’s old Dorchester neighborhood by none other than yours truly! McPherson and I caught up a couple months back before he made his annual migration to California and filmed guerrilla-style over the course of a couple of weekends. Check out the end product here!
“Ghost of My Hometown” appears on McPherson’s upcoming crowd-funded full-length, Kings Corner, which is due out imminently on McPherson’s own OFD Records.
