We’re starting this week off with two nuggets of 80’s Ramones goodness. First up is a new 40th Anniversary reissue of 1983’s Subterranean Jungle on violet colored vinyl. This is due out on January 6th, 2023; not sure how many were pressed, but it does look like it’ll be readily available at independent record stores. Here is one of many places you can pre-order it online.

Remember that Ramones box set that was released on Record Store Day earlier this year? The one I spent $150 on? Well… it’s back, and it’s only $90 now! I’m kinda pissed honestly, but hey, if you don’t already have this, it’s a great fuckin’ deal. The Sire Albums 1981-1989 features all six of their 80’s LPs and a bonus rarities compilation (that’s $12.86 per record btw). If you’re a sucker like me and you bought this at full price on RSD, this would still make a great gift for the Ramones fan in your life (though it, too, is not due out til January 6th). Buy here.

Fat Wreck Chords has released another 25th Anniversary reissue, this time for the Mad Caddies‘ debut LP Quality Soft Core. This has been out of print since its original release in 1997. Head over to Fat’s webstore and get it before it’s gone!

The hard working folks at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records are wrapping up their long-running Pinhead Gunpowder reissues series. The final round includes the band’s 2003 LP Compulsive Disclosure and 2008’s West Side Highway 7″. Both are available here, along with all the previously reissued records.

Pennywise‘s 1995 classic About Time has a new European exclusive yellow color variant. Grab it here (and don’t worry, shipping to the US isn’t too bad if you really want this).

Continuing our theme of “old music on new colored plastic” is skate punk supergroup Implants (members of Strung Out, Pulley, Ten Foot Pole, etc.). El Hefe’s Cyber Tracks Records has reissued the band’s 2013 debut From Chaos to Order on gold colored vinyl. This is limited to 100 copies and will cost ya 40 fucking bucks!!! I’ll stick to my OG pressing… you guys can grab some lube and begrudgingly purchase your copy here.

Members of Mom’s Basement Records bands the SUCK, Proton Packs and Bad Secret have united to cover the Riverdales‘ classic self-titled record. This LP from “The Greendales” will be available on the label’s webstore Friday, December 16th. There will be two color variants (yellow and clear) of this vinyl-only release.

Our friends at Punk Rock Radar have announced a new release from German melodic punk band Astronuts. Their 2021 debut Dark Matters is getting released vinyl for the first time. I had never heard of these guys, but I’m listening to the album right now on Spotify and it kicks ass! Definitely recommend listening to a few tracks below and grabbing this on vinyl here (US) or here (UK).

I got a pleasant surprise this week when I opened up Facebook and saw Canadian melodic punks Colorsfade had announced a brand new record! Built from the Wreckage is due out January 20th, 2023 on People of Punk Rock Records. Check out the first two singles below (spoiler: they’re killer) and pre-order the LP here.

Also coming to us from north of the border is The Corps! These guys released a digital EP called From Oblivion earlier this year. Thanks to the fine people at Thousand Islands Records, it’s now being given the wax treatment. Get your copy on “green lantern” colored vinyl here.

RECORD OF THE WEEK

We here at Dying Scene are all about trying new things, so this week I’m challenging you, loyal reader, to listen to something new! This week’s Record of the Week comes from Tampa Bay’s Black Valley Moon. Formed by longtime Down By Law guitarist Sam Williams in 2019, the band’s latest album Songs from the Black Valley delivers a unique blend of surfy rockabilly with Americana flair. Check it out below and grab the LP on blue wax here.

Pure Noise Records has announced Volume 2 in its Dead Formats series, featuring cover songs from 15 bands on the label’s roster. Notable tracks include Less Than Jake covering The Kinks and the Bouncing Souls’ take on “In the Dark” by Billy Squier. There are a handful of different color variants up for pre-order on the Pure Noise webstore.

Rancid’s legendary self-titled debut album is getting reissued in honor of its 30th Anniversary. Links to where you can get all four color variants can be found here. My favorite is the US Indie Exclusive white w/ black splatter – hit up your local record store for that one.

The Riverboat Gamblers’ Something to Crow About turns 20 this year and it, too, is getting a reissue. There are three variants, each limited to 500 copies. Get it on black and/or white wax here; the slate gray color variant is a Garage Land exclusive. This is the LP’s first repress since its original release in 2003.

A mysterious reissue of Face To Face’s Don’t Turn Away has popped up on Amazon and some other ecommerce sites with an October 13th release date. No specific color variant is noted, but there’s quite a bit of speculation this will be on pink colored vinyl. Why not roll the dice and find out?

New Found Glory’s From the Screen to Your Stereo 3 has been repressed on gold colored vinyl, not sure how many copies. Get the 10” here.

Our friends at Thousand Islands Records have brought Spanish melodic punks Adrenalized’s sophomore album Docet Umbra back in print for the first time in 8 years. There are three variants – teal, pink & gold – each limited to 100 copies. Get your copy here.

Toronto’s PKEW PKEW PKEW have a new record coming soon! Siiick Days was recorded with Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steinkopf at his Little Eden recording studio in Asbury Park, NJ. Check out the first track “The Dumbest Thing I Ever Done” below and pre-order the record here.

Finch‘s debut album What It Is to Burn is getting a special 20th Anniversary reissue from Take This To Heart Records. The first pressing has already sold out, but they’ve already launched pre-orders for a second pressing of 2,000 copies on “Color in Color (Ruby + Black) w/ Tangerine Splatter” colored vinyl. DS Record Radar: This Week in Punk Vinyl (Wasei, Joker’s Republic, Fat Mike Gets Strung Out, Keep Flying & More)

Greetings, and welcome to the Dying Scene Record Radar. If it’s your first time here, thank you for joining us! This is the weekly* column where we cover all things punk rock vinyl; new releases, reissues… you name it, we’ve probably got it. For the second week in a row, we’ve got an absolutely massive column, featuring nearly 20 records that got announced this week! So kick off your shoes, pull up a chair, crack open a cold one, and break out those wallets, because it’s go time. Let’s get into it!

One of my favorite records of 2023, Italian skate punks Wasei‘s new album Vulgar Misplay of Burkett, is now available in the US! Head over to Punk Rock Radar’s webstore to grab this ripper on pink vinyl, along with other awesome releases from Clayface, Baxter, Weekend Cigarettes & more.

This project was announced months ago, but now it’s available on vinyl! Fat Mike Gets Strung Out is a collection of songs Mr. Burkett has written (for NOFX and otherwise), which have been reimagined as orchestral pieces. If that’s something you feel like you need in your life, get the record here. Standalone colored vinyl sold out, but you can still get it on black wax (or fork over for one of the bundles with a colored LP and shirt).

Australian punks Clowns have a new album on the way! It’s called Endless, and it’s due out October 20th on Fat Wreck Chords. On the vinyl side of things, there are a ton of color variants for this thing – at least 9 that I’m aware of. Pre-order the record here (US), here (EU, pink), here (EU, green w/ white & silver splater), or here (AUS). There will be a ton of indie variants as well, so check with your local record store on those.

New Jersey’s Joker’s Republic released one of my favorite ska-punk albums last year, but until now it was only available on CD. The band has joined forces with Ska Punk International to give Necessary Evil the vinyl release it deserves. This album was recorded and produced by Less Than Jake’s Roger Lima at The Moathouse. Long running German street punk band Stomper 98 have announced their new self-titled album, due out September 1st. It’s the band’s seventh LP in their 25 year career, and the second to feature Rancid‘s Lars Frederiksen on guitar. Check out the music video for lead single “Alex – Schatten der Nacht” below and pre-order the record here.

Cleveland pop-punks Normy follow up their 2022 EP What on God’s Green Earth? with a new 6-song 12″ titled What the Fuck Planet Are These Guys From?. It’s due out September 8th on Smartpunk Records – check out the first single “Idiot” below. Pre-order the record here, there are three color variants, each with a screen printed B-Side.

Another awesome upcoming release from Smartpunk Records: Keep Flying‘s debut LP Daylight is coming August 15th. Check out the new single “Transparency” below and pre-order the record here.

Seattle pop-punk band The Subjunctives (fronted by Ean Hernandez of Sicko) will release their sophomore album Let’s Try This Again on September 16th. Check out the first single below and pre-order the record here. Also go back and check out their last album Sunshine and Rainbows if you haven’t already heard that.

Mom’s Basement and Monster Zero Records rarely miss, and they hit a fucking grand slam with their latest release from The Haermorrhoids. I’m calling it now, At the Earth’s Core is the Ramonescore record of the year. Absolutely essential listening for fans of Screeching Weasel, The Lillingtons, etc. Check out my favorite track “Timewarp Incest” below and get the record here (US) or here (EU).

Connecticut melodic hardcore band With Honor have a new record coming soon. Boundless is due out September 9th on Pure Noise Records. Check out their killer new single “My Anchor” below and pre-order the record here.

Camp Punksylvania is a three-day punk rock festival happening September 1st-3rd in Scranton, PA. A few names on the absolutely bitchin’ lineup include the Suicide Machines, A Wilhelm Scream, Belvedere & Tsunami Bomb. They’ve teamed up with the friendly people at Sell the Heart Records to release a compilation LP. Get it here.

Devon Kay & The Solutions‘ new EP Fine: A Ska EP is out now on Bad Time Records! Check it out below, buy it here, and catch the band on tour with Less Than Jake.

Our last new release of the week comes from Pirates Press Records, back at it again with another split 7″. It’s The Drowns and Wonk Unit, contributing one new song each. Check out The Drowns’ track below and get the 7″ here!

Now, to wrap things up with some reissues / represses. Up first: Jawbreaker – Bivouac! A new exclusive variant from Oakland’s own 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. Limited to 550 copies on Metallic Gold colored vinyl. First new pressing in 6 years. Get it here.

Also from 1-2-3-4 Go! Records: Kid Dynamite‘s self-titled debut LP on an exclusive “Dragonfruit” color variant, limited to 350 copies. Get dat here.

Los Angeles hardcore veterans DFL‘s 1993 debut My Crazy Life is getting its first-ever vinyl release, thanks to Trust Records. Two color variants: blue wax is limited to 250 copies, green is limited to 500. The record has been remastered and comes with a sweet looking fanzine. Get it here.

Pirates Press released a Subhumans box set earlier this year. It sold out instantly and is now selling for over $400 on Discogs. Good news for those who missed out: it’s getting a second pressing! Pre-orders go live here on Tuesday, July 25th. I know that’s still a ways away, just wanted to give ya a heads up.

DS Show Review & Gallery: SPELLS, Celebration Summer, and Heavy Seas – Chicago (05.28.2023)

On this weekend Punk Rock Bowling lured many punk rock fans away from the Windy City, leading to a smaller crowd in attendance. Many bands would be disheartened by the situation. But not the trio of bands on the bill this night. In fact, in many ways, this situation enhanced the experience. Having become friends with several of the musicians who performed, as well as some showing support, it felt, to me, more of a personal house party. Intimate, yet super fun. You know how there are always a few friends who decide to break out into song during parties? It just happened to be that these friends are all excellent musicians. No drunken, cringy renditions of “Don’t Stop Believing” sung along to a Karaoke machine.

Instead, we got the hyper-goofy fun of SPELLS. The band, consisting of “Little Stevie Shithead” (aka Ben Roy), Charlie “Continental” Stimsell, Don Bersell (aka Duke “Box” Standard), Robert Drew Burleson (aka Peter “P.” Bohner) and Dawn “Dusk Monarch” King were clad in matching golf shirts, and at least partial tracksuits, as is their modus operandi, though they do maintain a rotation of different patterns.

Roy and King shared vocals and played off of each other in a dynamic way unmatched since Sandy and Danny hit the Rydell High Senior Fair. Ok, maybe that’s just a tad hyperbolic. Still, there is a crackling dynamic when they abandon the stage to mingle amongst the crowd, even more so when they draft fans to be a part of the show.

I spoke to Coffey, Burleson, and King several days after the show to get to their reflections on the evening. King told me:

“I think the show was amazing! Even though it was a small crowd, it’s the energy we feed off of. The people who were there were friends or friends of people who weren’t able to make it. Some of them were brand new to the SPELLS experience! I feel like over the years SPELLS have cultivated friendships all over the US and overseas. It’s hard not to fall in love with this band.

“Chicago is an amazing city and we’re lucky to have a bunch of buds there.“

King ended with:

“What’s up next? World Domination.”

Burleson also spoke to the sometimes smaller crowds which every band experiences at some point:

“We are never really concerned about who attends shows. Staying in is the new going out so we get it. But for those who venture out to the dance party, we want to give them a complete 80% effort.”

Burleson shared some amusing memories from lesser-attended shows:

“One time we played in Quebec and the promoter got mad cause we were stuck in traffic and showed up a little late. He proceeded to take the opening band and all of the people who were there and went to another (bigger) show. We ended up playing to a room full of maybe 6 friends of friends, the bartender, the door person, and the sound person. IT WAS AMAZING!“

And he had some invaluable advice to other musicians:

“We made everyone get on stage and had a dance party. Maybe one of my favorite shows. Play to the people who are there and not the ones who aren’t. I’ve played to a room full of stuffed animals, GI Joes, and Kathy Ireland posters, and having a chance to play live in a club in a city we love (Chicago) to people we love is THE BEST.”

Oh, and Burleson also answered a query I’ve had for a while. That is, how they came up with the band name:

“SPELLS is an acronym for Stupid People Elevating Lonely Losers Socially. We came up with it after attending a youth leadership conference.”

Coffey echoes the sentiments of the King and Burleson:

“Like my bandmates said, we play our asses off for anyone that’s there and don’t sweat if it’s 10 people or 200. We do what we do because we love it.“

He added:

“It’s always great to see friends at shows. We do have an affinity for Chicago. It’s the city we’ve played the most outside of Colorado. We’re fortunate to have some great friends in town that have gotten us on some good shows and introduced us to a lot of rad people, such as yourself.“

Coffey is credited as the producer of the latest SPELLS release but he describes the process as this:

“I pretty much get producer credit cuz I’m there during the entire recording process, but it’s a full band effort.”

When not touring with SPELLS, Coffey, remains immersed in music as a producer and owner of his own record label.

“Yep, I started Snappy Little Numbers in 2011. I run it out of my basement. Rob helps out with art for SLN quite a bit too. Reminder… it’s not Fingers!! Even though there are fingers in the logo. I don’t always think things through, haha. [Coffey immediately followed up that he made the joke about “Fingers” “lovingly” sans disrespect to Stiff Little Fingers. He added that it’s quite common for people to make this mistake.]”

And because Burleson revealed the origin of the band name, Coffey thankfully offered how he came up with the name of his label:

“I came up with Snappy Little Numbers cuz it’s old-timey slang for a catchy song. Like, “hey that tune is a snappy little number”. Then I added an S to pluralize how many freakin’ hits we were gonna curate!“

With all this talk about sparsely attended shows, it should be noted that SPELLS shows are way more often playing to jam-packed crowds. No doubt the shows will continue to get ever bigger. With a set list like the band cruised through on this Sunday night, including “What The Hell is Caution,” “Some Would Say,” “She Wants to Die Before Me,” “Deceiver,” and closing with, of course, my favorite, the above referenced “80% Is Good Enough.”

SPELLS latest record, “Loose Change, Vol. 2,” is planned for release on June 29, 2023. If you want the vinyl version, you have a choice between “Dolphin Blue,” or “Drakula Red.” It’s available for pre-order now.

Celebration Summer, a wonderfully upbeat band moniker, sounds like the name of a music fest. However, per the band’s online press kit:

“Celebration Summer is a mash-up of sorts, pays homage to the iconic Hüsker Dü song “Celebrated Summer” and Washington DC hardcore’s significant social and activist “Revolution Summer” of 1985.“

The band’s songs are politically driven and have the mission of racial and social justice. With its powerful set, including “Disconnected,” “Silly Me,” “My Devotion,” “Patience in Presence,” “Bitter End,” and “Fraud,” Celebration Summer neither pulls its punches nor suffers fools. For those who lean MAGA, this is might not the music for them, as the band describes itself this way:

“Celebration Summer hit the ground running with anthemic, progressive songs capturing the struggles of
modern life in Trump/post-Trump-era America.”

Actually, perhaps MAGAs should be listening to Celebration Summer. Perhaps they’ll have a change of heart. In any case, with compelling lyrics set to strident, in the very best way, music, this band should be celebrated this summer and in every season.

Celebration Summer will be festing in Gainesville, FL. You can check them out at Fest 21 in late October.

Heavy Seas co-founder/guitarist Jeff Dean has been a very busy man of late. Amongst other projects produced and engineered The Bollweevils latest release Essential. In the audience at this show was Daryl “The Punk Rock Doc” Wilson, to show his gratitude to and support of Dean, and other friends on the bill.

Dean told me:

“Recording [and] producing Bollweevils was rad…“

Heavy Seas founders Dean and Ronnie DiCola recruited former All Eyes West bandmate Justin Miller to fill in on bass after that position came up available. This Chicago trio kicked off its set with its own originals, “Waves and Dreams,” “Sunn,” “Idle in Life,” and “Oscillation.” Heavy Seas also included as surprise for long-time fans of the three musicians/ Per Dean:

“We also ended the set with 4 All Eyes West songs since Justin was filling in on bass.”

Dean continued:

“Ronnie, Justin and I were All Eyes West then Ronnie and I started Heavy Seas. So having Justin fill in basically made it All Eyes West.

Dean is currently in Baltimore, MD recording the third Heavy Seas album. He provided me with some information about this:

“Heavy Seas has a new album called Distortion Days coming out at the end of summer on Rad Girlfriend records for the US and little rocket records for EU UK.”

Looking forward to the new album and also Dean’s perspective on his role in making Essential. He pledged to tell us at Dying Scene more about it later. We can’t wait!

DS Staff Picks: Dylan’s Top 10 Punk Rock Albums of All Time

Hello, friends! My name’s Dylan, but you probably know me better as Dying Scene editor “Screeching Bottlerocket”. I’m sure you read “Top 10 Punk Rock Albums of All Time” and broke out your pitchforks before clicking the link. Settle down! This isn’t meant to be a definitive list by any means, I just thought it would be fun to tell you about some of my personal favorite punk rock albums. If you like the same shit I do, that’s cool. If you think my list is overly 90’s centric trash, that’s also cool. Enough formalities, let’s have some fun! These are my Top 10 Punk Rock Albums of All Time:

RAMONES
Too Tough To Die

I’ve probably already lost some of you picking this record over the self-titled LP, Leave Home or Rocket to Russia, but it’s no secret that I love Too Tough To Die. The production is great, the songs are great, and Richie brought the balls back to the Ramones‘ sound. This is my all-time favorite Ramones album. Waaaaaa Warthog!!!

NO FUN AT ALL
Out of Bounds

No Fun At All is one of the greatest skate punk bands of all time. If these guys were from the states they’d be much bigger. Nevertheless, the Swedish skate punk band has been chugging along for 30 years. Out of Bounds is a top tier 90’s punk album. No bad songs to be found, but some of my favorites are the first four tracks, “In A Moment”, “Invitation”, and the title track. This is a bad ass record.

BAD RELIGION
The Gray Race

Though I’m sure most of you wouldn’t consider The Gray Race to be the pinnacle of Bad Religion‘s discography, I’ve got a major soft spot for this album. My introduction to BR was hearing “Them and Us” and “Ten in 2010” while playing Crazy Taxi. I love this record, Bobby’s drumming is awesome, my favorite song is “The Streets of America”.

STRUNG OUT

When it comes to 90’s skate punk, Strung Out‘s Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues is the gold standard. This album seems to build as you listen to it; every song is better than the last. It’s a perfect record.

NOFX
So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes

Picking a favorite NOFX album is a tough task, but ultimately I had to go with So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes. This is probably their most well-produced record and it’s got some of my favorite NOFX songs like “Kids of the K-Hole”, “180 Degrees”, “Eat the Meek”, and “The Desperation’s Gone”. Mike’s bass sounds awesome, too.

FRENZAL RHOMB
Meet the Family

I seriously considered putting one of Frenzal Rhomb‘s two most recent records here; they’re both excellent. 1997’s Meet the Family prevailed on the strength of classics like “Mum Changed The Locks”, “Mr. Charisma”, and “All Your Friends”. Is this Frenzal’s best album? I don’t know! It’s my favorite though.

BELVEDERE
Fast Forward Eats the Tape

Fast Forward Eats the Tape is a criminally underrated record by an equally underappreciated band. Every single Belvedere album is killer but this one’s the top dog. Steve Rawles and co. have always been head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to songwriting and technical proficiency. My favorite song on here is “All About Perspectives”. This is an essential skate punk record.

MXPX
Life In General

MxPx is one of my all time favorite bands. Life In General is one of my all time favorite records. They were at the top of their game and captured lightning in a bottle on this album, delivering 40 minutes of 90’s pop-punk excellence. My arms get sore just listening to Yuri hammer away on the drums.

GREEN DAY
Insomniac

Like most people my age, Dookie was my introduction to punk rock, but there’s something about Insomniac that strikes a chord with me. This album has a more aggressive, no-nonsense feel than its predecessor and it has my favorite Green Day song “Walking Contradiction”. If I’m pissed about something and wanna blow off some steam, this is usually the album I turn to. I can always count on ol’ reliable.

LESS THAN JAKE
Losing Streak

I’m a Florida Man so naturally Less Than Jake is my favorite band. I love all their records but Losing Streak rules the roost. I listen to this a few times a week and will never tire of it. That seamless transition from “Happyman” into “9th At Pine” gets me every. fucking. time. Losing Streak is my all-time favorite record.

Up first, we’ve got 1-2-3-4 Go! Records with another killer exclusive pressing of a classic record. This time it’s the Descendents‘ Everything Sucks, limited to 1,000 hand numbered copies on blue vinyl. This will be available on their webstore Friday, August 5th at 8am Pacific (11am Eastern). Join 1-2-3-4 Go!’s mailing list to be among the first to know when it goes up.

Rancid‘s Let’s Go is getting repressed, this time as a red and black splatter LP. It’s limited to 1,000 copies, and is only available from Newbury Comics. Head over here to get your hands on this one.

Brooklyn Vegan has an exclusive green 2xLP pressing of Social Distortion‘s Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes up to pre-order on their webstore. It’s limited to 300 copies and the color is pretty cool. Not a huge Social D fan myself, but this album’s alright. Also, if you join Brooklyn Vegan’s mailing list, you’ll get 10% off your order! Very nice.

Asian Man Records has brand new pressings of two classic Alkaline Trio LPs available right now. These new variants of Goddamnit and Maybe I’ll Catch Fire are limited to 1,000 copies each. Head on over to Asian Man’s webstore to order.

It’s been a long time coming but No Trigger has finally announced a follow-up to their fantastic sophomore album Tycoon. The new record’s called Dr. Album, and it’s being released next month on Red Scare. Check out the first single below, and pre-order the LP here.

Power pop singer/songwriter Geoff Palmer has re-recorded Dee Dee Ramone’s “rap” album Standing In The Spotlight. The first single, his cover of “Emergency” (my favorite song off the record), can be heard below. Stardumb Records is releasing this on vinyl; head over here to pre-order it.

The Mugwumps just released a new live album, recorded at Italy’s premiere punk festival Punk Rock Raduno in 2021. Check it out below – it kicks ass! My fellow Americans can get this here; our European friends can buy it here.

Mom’s Basement Records has announced their upcoming Queers tribute compilation God Save The Queers Vol.2 will be available to pre-order this Friday, July 29th, at Noon Eastern. Head over to their webstore to grab your copy. Canadians can get this one from Insipid Records, and our Bri’ish mates will wanna hit up Council-Pop Records.

Hardcore punk supergroup OFF! has announced a new record! Free LSD is the band’s first new studio album in eight years. They’re describing it as “a heavy punk industrial free jazz soundtrack recording”. Watch the music video for the first single “War Above Los Angeles” below, and pre-order the record here. There’s also an orange variant available from Brooklyn Vegan.

Making their second Record Radar appearance in three weeks, it’s the Dropkick Murphys with a Newbury Comics Exclusive variant of their upcoming album This Machine Still Kills Fascists. This one’s due out on September 30th, it’s limited to 500 copies on red vinyl, and you can pre-order it here.

British punk pioneers The Vibrators have announced their final album Fall Into the Sky will be released on August 12th through Cleopatra Records. Listen to the first single below, and pre-order the record on pink or blue vinyl here.

Santa Cruz pop-punks Too Bad Eugene just announced their first new album in 20 years! Distance is due out September 14th on People of Punk Rock Records. Listen to the title track below, and pre-order the record here.

Italy’s Radiation Records has reissued two LPs from Los Angeles punk veterans The Generators: 2005’s The Winter of Discontent, and 2007’s The Great Divide. Get ’em here. These are available in the US through Merchbar, too, but the price after shipping is basically the same as importing from Italy.

A decade after the downfall of The Clash, frontman Joe Strummer would spend the last three years of his life making new music with his band The Mescaleros. A box set compiling the band’s three albums and a bonus LP of demos, outtakes, rarities, has been announced. This is due out on September 16th, and can be pre-ordered here. These records go for $100+ each on the resale market, so this is actually a pretty great deal.

Reminder! If you are attending SBAM Fest, Brackrock Festival, or Punk Rock Holiday over the next few weeks, Fat Wreck Chords is going to have exclusive new variants of a shitload of records at their merch booth. Titles include Lagwagon‘s Hoss, Strung Out‘s Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues, the new Face to Face album, and many others. Canadian friends, check out Forbidden Beat! They’re a punk distro that always has good shit going up on their Instagram page, at very good prices. They also seem to be the only place in North America with copies of the new Screeching Weasel LP in stock, so if you’re looking for that, hit ’em up!

Now that all the new and upcoming releases have been covered, I thought I’d share what I’ve been listening to lately! I saw my favorite band Less Than Jake for the 19th(?) time last week, so I’ve been on a LTJ kick lately. I got Losers, Kings, And Things We Don’t Understand at a show in Orlando back in… 2012? And this red pressing of See The Light was one of two Christmas variants limited to 100 copies. It had been a while since I listened to either of these, so I gave them a few spins.

Wake up, sleepy heads! 1-2-3-4 Go! Records has a new exclusive pressing of an East Bay punk classic going up Friday, July 8th (that’s today!) at 8am PST/11am EST. Limited to 500 hand numbered copies on fiery red vinyl, it’s Jawbreaker‘s 24 Hour Revenge Therapy! Make sure to join their mailing list to be notified when this goes up.

Save the date! The Mr. T Experience is finally reissuing their 1997 LP Revenge Is Sweet, And So Are You. Preorders for this one start Monday, July 11th at Noon Eastern time. To gain access to the preorder, you need to join this mailing list. This pop-punk classic has been out of print since its initial release on Lookout! Records 25 years ago. Don’t miss out!

Speaking of Lookout! Records, Sewer Trout‘s full discography is getting reissued as a compilation LP. This is a collaborative effort between Lavasocks Records and Dead Broke Rekerds. You can preorder it here.

Epitaph Records is reissuing Down By Law‘s 1994 LP Punkrockacademyfightsong on purple vinyl. This is another one that’s limited to 500 copies. US preorders are already sold out, but the label’s European store still has some in stock if you can stomach the extra shipping cost. Or hey, maybe you live in Europe!

Canadian punks Trashed Ambulance just put out a new album called Future Considerations. It’s available to stream right now, but Thousand Islands Records doesn’t expect the LPs to be in hand for a few months. Listen to the album on the below, and preorder it here (North America) or here (UK).

Attention, all skate punk fans! I implore you to check out the new record from Australia’s No Quarter. If you like fast, melodic punk in the vein of Satanic Surfers, you’ll like these guys. You can listen to Fear and Loathing on the Pacific Highway below, and order the LP here.

Feeling nostalgic for the days when you played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater late into the night, chugging Mountain Dew and getting Cheeto dust on your Mad Catz controller? Then maybe these vinyl bootlegs of the THPS 1 and 2 soundtracks will interest you. If so, you’ll wanna hurry up and grab one here, because these have nearly sold out in just two days.

People of Punk Rock Records will be giving two Rufio albums their first-ever vinyl releases. Head to their website Monday, July 11th at 11am Eastern to get your hands on these beautiful new pressings of MCMLXXXV and The Comfort of Home.

Garageland has exclusive reissues of three – count ’em, three! – Agnostic Front records. Something’s Gotta Give, Riot Riot Upstart, and Dead Yuppies are all available on limited splatter colored vinyl. Head over to their store and get ’em while the gettin’s good.

Mom’s Basement Records just replenished their pop-punk arsenal with some killer records! New additions to their distro include LPs by the Hawaiians, Beatnik Termites, Lillingtons, and Methadones. Lots of good stuff for my fellow pop-punk enjoyers to munch on.

Now that all the new and upcoming releases have been covered, I thought I’d show you the records I picked up this week, because I’m sure you really care! Anywho, I was in Ocala, FL visiting my parents for the 4th of July and I decided to stop by the only local record store in town, which is appropriately named Vinyl Oasis. I was very happy to find the Ramones‘ It’s Alive II, a 2020 Record Store Day title that I had been in search of for the last two years, and I was even happier it was only $30 (suck it, resellers!). I also snatched up a brand new 3xLP copy of The Clash‘s notoriously bloated Sandinista (I like it!), and a few CDs including the very interesting Misfits / Nutley Brass crossover album Fiend Club Lounge.

Dying Scene Record Radar: New punk vinyl releases & reissues (NOFX, Danzig, Angry Samoans & more)

Danzig‘s 6:66 Satan’s Child is getting its first official pressing since 1999. Cleopatra Records is handling this reissue, and there’s a bunch of different variants (some with the uncensored version of the cover art) available on their webstore (sign up for their mailing list and save 10%). Pay up, people! Glenn needs to stock up on kitty litter.

Fat Wreck Chords has announced European festival exclusive variants of some of their classic releases, including Good Riddance‘s For God and Country, No Use For A Name‘s Making Friends, and Swingin’ Utters‘ A Juvenile Product of the Working Class. The only place in the entire world these will be available is the label’s merch booth at SBAM Fest, Brackrock Festival, and Punk Rock Holiday. Think of it like an Easter egg hunt, but much more expensive! Follow Fat on Instagram for more info.

Keeping their recent hot streak alive, Epitaph Records is back at it with even more reissues! Up first is NOFX‘s White Trash, Two Heebs, and a Bean, which turns 30 this year. They’re pressing TEN new variants of the fuckin’ thing. Links to where you can purchase all of these can be found here.

Also from Epitaph: some new pressings of Dropkick Murphys‘ Do Or Die and Blackout, both on white vinyl. These are limited to 500 copies each, and are only available on their European webstore.

And their third and final reissue this week is a 25th Anniversary edition of the Refused album Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent, featuring bonus tracks and demos. This is available as a clear 2xLP on their webstore. There’s also an Indie Exclusive blue variant; hit up your local record store for that one.

Knock knock! Who’s there? Another god damn reissue, that’s who! This is a really good one though. It’s the Angry Samoans‘ classic Back From Samoa. You can grab this one on green vinyl from Puke ‘N’ Vomit Records, or from Garageland if you like you’d rather have an orange plastic disc.

Surprise! Here’s another new pressing of an old-ass record. The Vandals reissued 1988’s Slipper When Ill (also known as their country album) on red marble vinyl, available through their Bandcamp page. I’m not big on this one personally, but hey, maybe it’s your favorite Vandals record. If that’s the case, I urge you to seek professional help.

Okay, these are the last of the reissues… I promise. Psychobilly icons Reverend Horton Heat are repressing their first three LPs on colored wax. Due out on September 9th, this is the first time these records have been in print since their initial release in the early 90’s. Get ’em here.

Finally, some new music! MU330 frontman Dan Potthast has a new solo record out, and as the title suggests, it’s pretty good! Each LP has a unique outer sleeve, hand made by Dan P himself. You can give the album a listen below, and grab it on vinyl on his Bandcamp.

Next up we have another solo album, this time from former ALL frontman Scott Reynolds. Chihuahua in Buffalo is his first solo acoustic release, and it’s quite enjoyable! This came out on CD/digital last year, but Thousand Islands Records is now releasing it on vinyl. Listen below, and go here to get the wax.

Something To Do Records has announced a new After School Special LP titled Lost Episodes. For those who are unfamiliar, this was Enemy You frontman David Jones’ (RIP) original band. This release will be available to preorder on the label’s webstore starting Friday, July 15th.

And last but not least, Less Than Jake just released a new single titled “Fat Mike’s on Drugs (Again)”. The song is great, and it’s getting a physical release as a flexi disc. Watch the music video below, and preorder the flexi here.

Another week, another 25th Anniversary reissue from Fat Wreck Chords! This time around it’s Lagwagon‘s 1997 classic Double Plaidinum being reissued on some very pretty colored vinyl. You can get your hands on it here (US of A), here (EU), and here (Australia).

Misfits bassist Jerry Only has released a new solo album called Anti-Hero. He claims it’s his first release of the sort, but I’d argue some of “The Misfits” later output could be considered Jerry’s solo material. Whatever. Check it out below (spoiler: it fuckin’ sucks), and grab the record here if you dig it.

Fucked Up also just announced a new record. One Day will be their sixth full-length album, and it’s due out in January. Give the first single a listen, and go here to pre-order the LP.

Tim Barry recently released a new solo album titled Spring Hill. If that wasn’t enough for you, the Avail frontman also has a 7″ featuring some new b-sides. This one’s due out November 11th, and you can grab it here. Or if you’re in Gainesville this weekend for The Fest, these will be available at his merch table.

PUP is the second Canadian band to appear on this week’s Record Radar, with their 2016 LP The Dream is Over getting repressed on “Hot Pink/Violet” colored vinyl. SideOneDummy says this is this record’s 11th pressing; holy fuck! Get your copy here.

If you haven’t already exceeded your credit limit by purchasing tickets to Blink-182‘s upcoming tour, you’ll be happy to hear that Tom DeLonge’s other band Angels & Airwaves have repressed an assload of their records. Newbury Comics, Brooklyn Vegan, and The Hard Times have exclusive color variants of all these, along with a new pressing of Mr. DeLonge’s solo album To the Stars… Demos, Odds And Ends.

Also available at Newbury Comics: new exclusive color variants of two Gaslight Anthem albums. They have American Slang on “Clear Smoke” colored vinyl (600 copies), and The ’59 Sound on “Frosted Blue” colored vinyl (750 copies). Pretty colors! How many times can I use the word “color” in a paragraph?! A lot, apparently.

It’s been a minute since we heard from the Riverboat Gamblers, but they’re putting out a brand new 7″. Check out the title track “Two Little Hearts” below, and grab the wax here.

Against Me! fans, Red Scare has a fresh new pressing of Laura Jane Grace‘s debut solo album Bought to Rot. This is a very good record! Go here to obtain your own copy of this very good record.

Previously only available in the US, Anti-Flag‘s upcoming album Lies They Tell Our Children is now getting a European exclusive variant on cream colored vinyl. You can purchase it with whatever currency you guys like to use here.

Friendly reminder! Next Friday, November 4th, MxPx will be dropping brand new reissues of three classic records: Life in General, Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo, and The Ever Passing Moment. Super exclusive amazing world premiere breaking news top secret confidential information holy fucking shit!!!!!!!!

We’re getting out the gate fast this week, folks! Epitaph has been on a tear lately with reissues of their classic releases, and I have it on good authority that next in line is NOFX‘s So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes. Pictured to the left (or above if you’re on mobile) are two color variants of this 25th Anniversary reissue. This is not available yet, but when it is, you’ll be able to find links to buy all the variants here. Keep an eye out! This record sells out quickly every time it’s repressed.

After being out of print for nearly a decade, The Slackers‘ fourth album Wasted Days is getting reissued by the good people at Pirates Press Records. Older pressings of this record are very hard to come by (currently there is one copy available on Discogs for $135!). Head over here to grab this new 2xLP reissue for the reasonable price of $27.

I’m not a big fan of the newer style of pop-punk played by bands like The Story So Far, but I’ll make an exception for these guys. Cleveland’s Normy takes that sound and kicks it up a notch with more speed and aggression. Their debut EP What on God’s Green Earth? has been available to stream for a few months, but its physical release is still forthcoming. Check it out below, and pre-order the 7″ here.

My Chemical Romance has new Walmart Exclusive(!!!) pressings of three records on the way. The Black Parade, Danger Days, and their “greatest hits” album May Death Never Stop You are getting new color variants, available only at Wally World! Head over here if that’s something you’d like to spend your hard earned money on.

Thrice‘s The Illusion Of Safety is getting a 20th Anniversary reissue. There are literally fuckin 12 variants of this thing (not exaggerating, check Discogs if you don’t believe me) and it’s not due out til March, 2023. Here are a few links to where you can pre-order some of the many variants: Zia Records, Brooklyn Vegan, Smartpunk, Bandbox.

Fat Wreck Chords continues flexing the might of their back catalog with yet another 25th Anniversary reissue. The classic Fat Music Vol. III: Physical Fatness is back in print for the first time since 1997! Grab your copy here (US), here (EU), or here (AUS).

Also from Fat: a surprise repressing of Tony Sly‘s fantastic solo debut 12 Song Program. This is on red and white marble colored vinyl. Not sure how many copies, but I’m sure they’ll go quick! Pick it up here.

Radiation Records has two brand new reissues on tap for my fellow pop-punk aficionados. Up first is the 1993 debut album from Vancouver, BC’s BUM. Give it a listen below, and grab the record on blue vinyl here. Next up is fellow Vancouverites the McRackins‘ with Bat Out of Shell making its vinyl debut after being previously released on CD in 2006 (it also has some awesome new cover art). Stream a few songs below, and go here to get a copy on egg colored vinyl. Both of these are limited to 500 copies and are due out in early November.

The Gaslight Anthem‘s 2008 LP The ’59 Sound is next in line on the reissue train. Bandbox has not one, but two exclusive new variants of this record. I believe there are 1,000 copies of each. Buy it here if you can stomach the $40 price tag for a single LP (yikes).

French punks The Dead Krazukies‘ 2016 debut EP The Northern Belle is getting released on vinyl for the first time, thanks to SBÄM and Sound Speed Records. There are two beautiful color variants, limited to 250 copies each, and it features their cover of Bad Religion‘s “Sinister Rouge” as a bonus track. Grab it here (US) or here (EU).

Newbury Comics has a new exclusive pressing of Hot Water Music‘s Caution, which I just realized turns 20 years old this month! 500 copies on blue vinyl (don’t be surprised if more variants of this one pop up elsewhere). Get yours here.

Sell the Heart Records is releasing a Fest 20 compilation featuring Cobra Skulls, Tsunami Bomb, the Jukebox Romantics, and a bunch of other bands playing The Fest in Gainevsille, FL later this month. The LP is limited to 230 copies, and will be available through the label’s Bandcamp page Friday, October 7th. Proceeds benefit Feed the Scene.
