Music Video: Evergreen Terrace – “Enemy Sex”

BlankTv has let us know that Evergreen Terrace has released the music video for their song Enemy Sex (director Salvatore Perrone) and you can check it out right here.  The song appears on the band’s most recent album, Almost Home, which was released on Metal Blade Records in September, 2009.

Josh James of Evergreen Terrace had this to say about the video:

Enemy Sex is about ongoing change. Some change you can control and some you can’t. Salvatore Perrone came to us with the idea of creating a video for Enemy Sex that would capture exactly that. There is a lot disgusting, grotesque people in this world that change it for the worse. Hopefully this video will spark an interest in a few things going on that’s wrong and you will be inspired to make some sort of change.

New Song: Evergreen Terrace cover “Everlong” by Foo Fighters

evergreen-terraceEvergreen Terrace have done a punky version of Foo Fighters’ famous song Everlong, which you can check out on the Evergreen Terrace MySpace page.  I’ve heard the original song way too many times on the radio to enjoy it anymore but I sorta dig this new rendition of it even though I wish they turned up the “punk” a bit more on it.

Evergreen Terrace’s last album, Almost Home was released this past September on Metal Blade Records.

Why did they choose the name Evergreen Terrace?

evergreen-terrace1Ever wonder where some bands come up with their band names?  Well, we do, and we’re sick of sitting around scratching our heads about it.  We’re hitting the streets (aka. “Internet”) to find the origins behind some of the more bizarre, intriguing or just plain random band names in the scene.  Every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back on a different band and this week it’s Jacksonville, FL’s hardcore/punk band Evergreen Terrace.

We recently caught up with Josh James (guitar player for the Evergreen Terrace) who explained the reasoning behind the band’s namesake:

We played our first show about three hours after our first practice.  That night we got on stage and called ourselves “The Backpack Boys” because, well, we all had backpacks on when we went to the show.  The band was started just for fun, kind of a joke, and using that name seemed fitting at the time.  To our surprise we had a lot of fun on stage that night and after the show our original bass player, Josh Smith, suggested that if we decided to continue the band we should call it “Evergreen Terrace”.  His reasoning was that The Simpsons was the best primetime TV show out at the time and Evergreen Terrace was the name of the street the Simpsons lived on.  I’m not too sure if that would work today, the band would end up being called “Rock of Love” or “From G’s to Gents”…
