Basement return from hiatus to play live shows again in 2014

Previously defunct emo group Basement went on hiatus back in 2012 but it looks like they’ll be kicking it back into gear again this year.  The band just posted the following statement on their facebook page:

“In the autumn of 2012 we made a decision as a band to put things on hold, as many of us had other commitments in our lives that needed to take priority. Almost two years on, for the most part now settled in where we want to be, it feels like there is space for change. When we put out the hiatus statement, we genuinely thought we were going to be away for quite a while, and we didn’t see any chance of having free time to do anything other than focus on our professional lives. We’re glad that this is not the case. We are really excited to say that Basement will be playing shows this summer, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Alex, Andrew, Duncan, James and Ronan.

Farewell statement from Basement

After playing their final show last week, UK band Basement have release a farewell statement on their Facebook page. The group had announced their indefinite hiatus in July.

Last weekend was incredibly special for us, it was the perfect way to say goodbye. We chose the Well and the Underworld because they have always been our favourite venues to play, so it really meant so much that people came out to see us. We would like to thank all the bands that played over the weekend, because not one band was chosen without reason.”
