Muncie Girls announce split with Great Cynics

Exeter, UK pop punk act Muncie Girls and London folk-ish punk act Great Cynics have announced an upcoming split 12″.

The 12″ will be released March 10th, 2014 on Specialist Subject Records.  You can see what songs each band will be contributing to the release below.



Great Cynics release music video for “Letting Go” from upcoming album “Like I Belong”

UK folk-ish punk band Great Cynics have released a music video for “Letting Go,” which will be appearing on their upcoming album “Like I Belong.”

“Like I Belong” is set to be released on September 19th through Bomber Music. The band last released an EP entitled “In The Valley” on February 28th via Kind Of Like Records.



Pay-What-You-Want Benefit Comp: “SkatePunkForSouthBank” (Great Cynics, The Greenery, Frank Turner, etc.)

In an effort to keep London’s Southbank, which is apparently the oldest known skate park in the world, from being demolished and replaced with retail outlets, the Long Live Southbank foundation has released a pay-what-you-want compilation featuring songs from the likes of Great Cynics, The Greenery, Frank Turner, Gnarwolves, and many other bands.

UK folk/punk band Great Cynics  have just released the first single from their upcoming album, Like I Belong. The song is titled “In My Head” and you can listen to it right here.

Like I Belong is expected to drop sometime in Spring 2013. 



Great Cynics cover The Menzingers

WTFest 4 announced with Polar Bear Club, The Skints, Apologies, I Have None and more!

Southampton, UK promotions company Wrong Way Round have announced the 4th annual ‘celebration of punk  and hardcore’ WTFest. The festival will take place in various venues in Southampton from Thursday August 30th until Sunday September 2nd.

The line-up so far boasts 14 bands including Polar Bear Club, The Skints, Tellison, Apologies, I Have None, Fighting Fiction, Great Cynics, The Arteries, The Cut Ups and Calvinball. A further 26 bands will be announced over the coming months. You can see the full line-up here.

Tickets will go on sale on May 4 and priced at a tiny £25 for the whole weekend and day tickets between £7 and £10. Keep up to date with all things WTFest on Facebook by clicking here and joining the group.

Great Cynics premiere music video for title track off new album “In The Valley”

UK folk/punk band, Great Cynics, released their new EP “In The Valley” today, through Kind Of Like Records.

To celebrate, the band has also released a new music video for the title track, which you can view here.

Giles Bidder (vocalist) said this about the new music video,

“We didn’t have much time to think about doing this video, so in the end we decided to just have a fun day of hanging out at my house in Peckham. How we got 10 of our friends from around the country to get a letter each tattooed on them to spell a line in this song is beyond me. But apparently laser surgery is becoming cheaper, which our mums will be happy about.”

If you are not familiar with Great Cynics, the band originally began as a solo act, known simply as Cynics. Great Cynics’ “In The Valley” will feature three songs that were originally recorded as Cynics, but have since been re-recorded with a full band, as Great Cynics.

UK folk/punk band Great Cynics has just announced that they will be releasing a new EP, “In The Valley”, on February 28th through Kind Of Like Records.

The band has just uploaded an “unofficial” video for their title track, which you can view here.

If you are not familiar with Great Cynics, the band originally began as a solo act, known simply as Cynics. Great Cynics’ “In The Valley” will feature three songs that were originally recorded as Cynics, but have since been re-recorded with a full band, as Great Cynics.

New record label Cats? Aye! Records offers free sampler (Bangers, Great Cynics, Above Them)

Good news for everyone, free music is free wherever you are. A small group of friends across England have joined forces and formed a record label, and to celebrate that have compiled a compilation to showcase the music that has inspired and interested them.

Cats? Aye! Records have managed to secure a whole load of excellent British bands and artists for the sampler, including Bangers, Great Cynics and Above Them, and a couple of international acts including The Smith Street Band.

The first release has been announced as a split 7” with Leagues Apart and Dinner Time. To keep up to date with that and to support people that care make your way to the Facebook page and have a click on ‘Like’. After you’ve done that (or before) go to the bandcamp page and download the sampler for no money at all. It’s all free, and you get 22 excellent songs by excellent popular and under-appreciated punk acts.
