Initial lineup announced for 2016 Manchester (UK) Punk Fest (Ducking Punches, Darko and lots more)

It’s still a bunch of months away, but preliminary information has been released for the 2016 installment of the Manchester Punk Festival. Going in to its second year, the MPF is a grassroots effort spearheaded by three local, DIY promoters. The gig takes place April 22nd and 23rd at a variety of different venues, and the preliminary lineup includes the likes of Ducking Punches, Darko, Great Cynics, Wonk Unit, and a bunch more. Wonk Unit & Raging Nathans announce US tour dates

UK punk act Wonk Unit will be teaming up with Ohio punks The Raging Nathans for Wonk Unit’s first US tour kicking off tomorrow, October 22nd. The 15 day tour will include a show at Fest and you can check out the dates and locations below.

Wonk Unit’s debut album Flying the Japanese Flag is currently available to pre-order on vinyl from the TNSrecords webstore. Raging Nathans released their debut full-length album Losing It in October, 2014.


Manchester Punk Festival announces first round of bands, tickets

Manchester Punk Festival is making its return next spring, and now we know some of the band’s who will be playing. The initial lineup announcement includes Oi Polloi, Sick On The Bus, Kill The President, Wonk Unit, Ducking Punches, Faintest Idea, The Franceens, Casual Nausea, Harker, Whoanows, No Contest, and Sombulance.

The sophomore edition of Manchester Punk Festival is set for April 22nd and 23rd at Sound Control, along with other venues around Manchester. The first batch of ‘super early bird’ tickets are also now available, but are very limited, with only 75 available. Find out more information and/or get your tickets at the MPF website here.



Wonk Unit releases new best-of album on Drunken Sailor Records

UK punk act Wonk Unit has just released a new greatest hits album called Feel the Wonkness, and you can listen to all 13 glorious tracks below.  The album was released today via Drunken Sailor Records.  Although the band started out as a side project that was more performance-art than punk band, Wonk Unit has an energetic sound fused with some fuzzy guitars and pop-punk riffs.

The band also has their own festival.  This year’s Wonk Fest will take place next Saturday, July 25th, in London.

Wonk Unit most recently released Nervous Racehorse released in early 2014.



Wonk Unit release music video for new single “Je M’appelle Alex”

The lads in UK punk act Wonk Unit have released a music video for “Je M’appelle Alex”, the first single to be taken from the upcoming “Mr Splashy” album due for release in early 2016 on TNSrecords. The track will be released on 6th May to coincide with a 2 night residency of The Scala with their touring companions and close friends SLAVES.  Check out the video below.

The band’s latest album “Nervous Racehorse” was released in early 2014.

TNS records releases free sampler

TNS Records has just released a free sampler featuring a number of bands on the label including Warrington folk-punkers The Roughneck RiotRevenge of the Psychotronic Man, and UK punk/ska band Wonk Unit. Manchester Punk Festival announced (Wonk Unit, Fair Do’s, Great Cynics, Crazy Arm, The Restarts, etc)

TNSrecords, Moving North and Anarchistic Undertones have announced that they are joining forces to create Manchester Punk Festival on the 17/18 of April 2015. Across two stages on Saturday and supporting gigs across the two days there will be great bands from across the large spectrum of punk rock.

The Restarts, Wonk Unit, Crazy Arm, Almeida, Fair Do’s, Revenge of the Psychotronic Man, Great Cynics, Throwing Stuff and Wadeye are already confirmed for the weekend with more bands to be announced at the start of December.

A limited amount of early bird tickets are now available from the TNSrecords webstore for £10. The remaining tickets will be available from the start of December for £13. There are also various deals available that include t-shirts and hoodies.

TNSrecords is a Manchester based independent punk label that have been putting on gigs for over 10 years.

Moving North have being putting on DIY punk gigs in Manchester since 2009 and are behind the awesome ManchFester all-dayers. They have also recently started a record label.

Anarchistic Undertones also put on loads of DIY punk gigs in Manchester and are involved in the putting on Punx Inna Jungle.



Wonk Unit (punk/ska) release new music video for “I Love My Nagging Wife”

UK punk/somewhat ska band Wonk Unit have a (strange) new music video out for their song, “I Love My Nagging Wife.” You can see what I mean below.

The song comes off the band’s latest full-length, Nervous Racehorse, which came out in April. You can listen to the entire album and/or buy a digital copy here.

Three-piece London (the one in the UK, not the one in Canada) punk outfit Wonk Unit have finally released their brand new full-length, “Nervous Racehorse.” You can stream the whole thing right here, and buy it for 7 pounds (which I think is, like, $47) at the same link.

“Nervous Racehorse” is Wonk Unit’s fourth studio album. Their last was 2012’s “Muffy” released via Boss Tuneage.

London punks Wonk Unit will release their upcoming album, Nervous Racehorse, on TNS Records.  This will be thet’s 4th album overall, and it is slated for release on March 13th.

London based punk act Wonk Unit recently premiered a music video for their song “Guts” which appears on their most recent album “Trollys Thank You.”  It features drummer/vocalist Duncan Redmonds of Snuff.
