According to his Instagram, Fat Mike of NOFX is apparently close to finally finishing the Cokie the Clown album. I’m curious to see what this album will be, given the dark, brutal honesty of the legendary Cokie performance at SXSW from 2010. I’m sure we’ll let you know what we think when the album is finally released.

The Offspring guitarist Noodles revealed in a recent interview with WRIF’s Meltdown that the band is in the process of finishing their long-awaited new album, which is expected to be released this fall. This is what he had to say:
“This record is taking us a long time, but I think it’s gonna be well worth the wait. We’ve been in the studio working a lot recently with [veteran producer] Bob [Rock] and finishing it up. We’ve got about ten songs done, a couple of more that just need lyrics. And then we may do one or two more, and it’s gonna be a done deal.”
Noodles was also asked when the record’s coming out, and his response was, “This fall. Definitely this year, hopefully fall. We were hoping for summer, but it looks like fall now.”
You can listen to the interview in full right here.
The band writes:
“After having an amazingly great experience with our L7 reunion tour in 2015 as well the release of a documentary on our band, “L7: Pretend We’re Dead”, the band felt inspired to do some songwriting and return to the studio once again. The end results were recording the tracks “Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago” and “I Came Back to Bitch”. Our first new tunes in 18 years!
We’ve had such a blast hanging out, writing, and recording with each other again that we decided to keep the ball rolling. More song ideas have been flowing out of us every time we get together and play, so we’ve decided to make a full length album which we will record this year.”
Even though the new record won’t be released until next year, you can pre-order it now via PledgeMusic.
L7 called it quits back in 2001, but reunited 14 years later. Their last full-length record Slap Happy was released in 1999.

We finished tracking the new Direct Hit LP today after more than a year of writing, recording, re-imagining, re-recording, and boiling down 2+ albums worth of new material in different studios and rehearsal spaces around Wisconsin. We collaborated with more than 20 people outside our band to make it the most manic, wild-sounding record we’ve put together, and we can’t wait for you all to tell us how incredible it is. Ask us about it on tour with @lessthanjake and @facetofacemusic this month, and send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org if you want us to play your venue of choice in the fall. “Fuck You Get Pumped.”
