The Dying Scene Sessions: Chaser unplugged!

I can’t believe this is our third session already! For this edition, we bring you an exclusive performance from Southern California punk act Chaser. Totally stoked!

We shot the video at frontman Mike LeDonne’s house, where he was joined by guitarists Cameron and Jesse, as well as Whitney Youde on Piano for the song “More Than You Know.” The band also performed acoustic renditions of the songs “Know Your Way,” and “Numb America.” The shoot was going so well that even Mike’s daughter decided to join in on the fun and makes an appearance on the song “My Promise.” Awesome! Check out the videos here.

The Dying Scene Sessions feature acoustic sets from some of our favorite punk acts.  Check out our last session with Street Dogs here, and our first ever session with Joey Briggs right here.

The video was shot by our friends at PunkVideosRock.com.  Go check them out for tons of live performances from the best bands in punk rock!

Chaser post acoustic version of “More Than You Know” from “Music 4 Cancer” Comp

SoCal punkers Chaser have posted an acoustic version of their song from their “More Than You Know” and you can listen to it right here. This acoustic version appears on the “Music 4 Cancer” comp which was released today.

The 2 disc comp consists of 47 songs, 33 of which are rare or unreleased, from artists such as Bigwig, Jason Devore (Authority Zero), Tony Sly (No Use For A Name), Joey Cape (Lagwagon), Rufio, Less Than Jake and more.  Scope out the full track list and list of contributors here. You can order the “Music 4 Cancer” comp here.

Music 4 Cancer is a non-profit organization. It was created by Jay Epinat. Proceeds will be donated for cancer research. The reason behind the creation of Music 4 cancer is simple. Jay’s mother battled a Lymphoma. After months and months of suffering, she won her fight. A treatment found 5 years earlier saved her life. Without research his mother would have died. His goal is to collect money for cancer research and to promote punk rock and underground bands. I suggest all of you support this great cause and buy the cd. You’d get to help people and be rewarded with some great tunes.

Random Cover Song Thursday: Chaser covers Kansas’ “Dust in the Wind”

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.  We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs.  Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs.  Good or bad.  Intriguing or mundane.  We’ll let you be the judge.

This weeks cover is So-Cal punkers Chaser doing a cover of Dust in the Wind which was originally performed by the classic rock group Kansas. I really like this cover because it’s a rather unconventional song for a punk band to cover. Usually punk bands cover people within their genre but not this time. They did a great job with this cover. Check it out for yourself here.

The cover song appeared on the band’s debut full-length album Numb America which was released in 2006 on Felony Records. Their latest album The Big Picture was released February 16, 2010 on Drop Anchor! Entertainment.

Last week’s random cover song can be heard here.
