Tiger Army announce three new shows

Psychobilly rockers Tiger Army have announced three new shows this Spring!  While it’s a far cry from news of a new album or full tour, at least it’s something.  Check out the dates on this flyer.

Too lazy to click?  The band will be playing the Musink Festival in Costa Mesa, CA March 2nd, the San Diego House of Blues April 6th, and the Las Vegas House of Blues April 7th.

Tiger Army has not released an album since their fourth full length “Music From Regions Beyond” came out June 5th,2007 on Hellcat Records.  Singer and guitarist Nick 13 more recently released his self-titled solo album June 7th last year.

Tiger Army cover “Boys Don’t Cry” with AFI’s Jade Puget

Heading back to their roots at one of their recent Octoberflame shows, Tiger Army brought Jade Puget of A.F.I. up onstage for a cover of the Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry”.  Check out the video here.

Tiger Army’s Nick 13 introduces the song as a cover performed frequently by his former band Influence 13, of which Jade Puget and current Tiger Army bassist Geoff Kresge were members.

Well, another year is drawing to a close. People are gearing up for the holidays and it’s  almost time for us to start creating our New Year’s resolution lists. But before we begin looking to the future, let’s employ a different kind of list to help us appreciate the past. You know what I’m talking about. Yep, a Top Ten list!  Each day for the next couple weeks I’m going to publish a different Top 10 albums of 2010 list for you to praise, completely disagree with, or just outright ignore.

Today’s list comes from Nick 13, frontman and guitarist for Tiger Army. Check out his picks for the 10 Best Albums of 2010 right here.

Interview: Tiger Army frontman Nick 13 talks new record, solo project

As California’s Tiger Army are gearing up for their Halloween show (where they will be performing Power Of Moonlite: II in its’ entirety), singer and guitarist Nick 13 took a few minutes to discuss the Octoberflame Festival, the band’s new album, and his solo project, the latter of which is due for a 2011 release. Check it out here.

Tiger Army performing classic album at Octoberflame III

So, this Halloween weekend, Tiger Army is playing at The Grove of Anaheim. They will be joined by Jack Grisham (TSOL) & The West Coast Dukes and Throw Rag on the first night (October 30th), and Mad Sin and Hillbilly Casino on Halloween night. But that’s not all.

Tiger Army has confirmed they will perform their classic II: Power Of Moonlite from beginning to end on Halloween.

These two dates will be the only time you can see Tiger Army this year (and October 31st will be the only time you can hear II in its entirety), due to Nick 13’s 2011 debut solo album.

Why did they choose the name Tiger Army?

Ever wonder where some bands come up with their band names?  Well, we do, and we’re sick of sitting around scratching our heads about it.  We’re hitting the streets (aka. “Internet”) to find the origins behind some of the more bizarre, intriguing or just plain random band names in the scene.  Every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back on a different band and this week it’s Nor-Cal Psychobilly mainstays Tiger Army.

According to frontman Nick 13 in an interview with Hot Topic, Nick mentions that “the Tiger is a solitary, independent animal and that the spirit is represented in the people who find their way out of the mainstream into different kinds of alternative culture or subculture, the people who are searching for something, who don’t just except what is handed to them. That’s the Tiger Army, all the people who share that spirit and relate to our music. The rest of the human race are cows, sheep. herd animals with a herd mentality.” There you go!

Tiger Army Announce Octoberflame 2009 (talk solo Nick 13 album)

octoberflame1Tiger Army is proud to announce the second annual Octoberflame festival! Like 2008, the shows will take place at the end of October, including Halloween night, but unlike ’08 the shows take place in Orange County AND Los Angeles! Tiger Army will be supported by top acts handpicked by Tiger Army’s Nick 13, including .45 Grave, Milwaukee Wildmen and more, with new guests being announced right up until October!

As most of 2009 has been earmarked for the writing and recording of a Nick 13 solo album that focuses on country/roots/rockabilly, these shows are the ONLY planned Tiger Army shows for the entire year!
