Sublime With Rome clarify new lineup change

Sublime With Rome have issued a statement on their website regarding the departure of Bud Gaugh, who announced his decision to leave the band last Saturday. The band says they will not break up; they’re planning to tour again next year and have been working on finding a permanent drummer even though that they recently hired Josh Freese for live shows only. The band’s statement read the following:

“Hey Everyone – it’s definitely been a crazy weekend. There have been some misunderstandings and miscommunication on what exactly is going down with us so we wanted to set the record straight. First off, rest assured that Sublime with Rome is NOT breaking up. Our brother Bud is about to have a baby and, understandingly, taking some time off to be with his family. We couldn’t be happier for him and welcome him back out on the road with us as soon as he needs a break from the diapers and baby bottles. We already have some major touring plans for 2012 that we’ll be announcing very soon so we’ve started talking to a few drummer friends. Which brings us to the second thing…there’s been some talk (and wishful thinking on our part)of bringing in our good friend/drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese, but unfortunately he’s busy with some other commitments and we’re not sure if it could work or not. What we are sure about is how excited we are to hit the road again in the new year and see all of you. You’ve embraced Sublime with Rome and our music, and, at the same time, helped us continue to share the music of Sublime and its legacy, keeping Brad’s music alive. You’re the best. Have a great holiday and see you in 2012.”

Earlier this year, Sublime With Rome released Yours Truly on Fueled By Ramen. Last month, we reported that the band was either working on a new album or a different project.

This indicates that he’s not going to be a permanent member. Josh explains in regards to his decision to join Sublime With Rome:

“Nothing 2 heavy/official regarding playin sum gigs w/Sublime. They’re my friends/always liked them/they need someone 4 a few shows. Why not?”
