A Skylit Drive, Margate, Death By Stereo among acts slated to appear on Band For A Cure compilation

LA pop-punks Margate, California screamo outfit A Skylit Drive and hardcore punk band Death By Stereo are among the bands slated to appear on the upcoming Band For A Cure Compilation.

Band For A Cure is a non-profit geared toward assisting in cancer treatment and research through music. No specific release date or information has been announced yet, but we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, visit the Band For A Cure website to find out more about it and hear samples from the artists involved.

LA pop-punks Margate have been added to The Fest 11 line-up. The following bands have also been added today:

NOFX announce European tour dates

Following their stop at Punk Rock Bowling, NOFX will be jumping across the Atlantic to play a bunch of dates in the UK, Netherlands, Sweden and France with Margate and Snuff. Check out the dates here.

The band is currently in the studio with Bill Stevenson working on a new album. They last released “Coaster” in 2009 on Fat Wreck Chords.

Live Video: Margate full set (with El Hefe of NOFX)

LA pop-punks Margate played at the Vu St Paty day block party in Santa Clarita a few weeks ago and during their performance El Hefe from NOFX joined them on stage for a little guest guitaring.  You can check out a video of the entire set right here (Hefe comes on around minute 30).

Margate are currently hard at work on a new full length album, which will be released later this year on Cyber Tracks, a new label started by El Hefe and his wife.

Streaming Audio: El Hefe (NOFX) remixes Margate’s “Rock N Roll Reserve”

As you may recall, NOFX lead guitarist Aaron “El Hefe” Abeyta and his wife Jennifer have started their own record label, Cyber Tracks, and he has signed LA pop-punks Margate to be the first band on their label.

Margate are currently hard at work on a new full length album. El Hefe is at the helm of the new recording, and has also taken the time to remix the title track from Margate’s “Rock N Roll Reserve EP,” released last year on their own Room 57 Records. Hefe also contributed backing vocals and lead guitar duties to the remix. Check it out here.

Margate working on new full-length album

Los Angeles pop-punkers, Margate, have begun pre production on a new full-length album.

Check out our premiere of their most recent EP, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Reserve,” which dropped in September.

They have a few tour dates lined up for April and June. You can check out the dates and locations here.

El Hefe (NOFX) and wife start record label, sign Margate

Aaron Abeyta, better known to us as NOFX guitarist El Hefe, just started a new label with his wife Jennifer. Cyber Tracks is a more cooperative, non-traditional label with more creative and revenue equality for the artists, where they can collaborate instead of competing for control.

Their first signing is pop-punk act Margate, though they plan to work with artists from all different genres. The band will put out a new record on Cyber Tracks some time in 2012, but in the mean time, check out our premiere of their most recent EP, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Reserve,” which dropped in September.

Margate release new studio video for “Rock n Roll Reserve”, announce record release party

While in the studio creating their newest EP, “Rock n Roll Reserve”, Margate took the time to record a promotional video of the process.  You can watch the video here.

They also announced that they will be hosting a record release party at Los Angele’s Molly Malones Friday Sept16 with DC Fallout.  If interested (and 21+), party starts at 9:30PM and cost $7 to enter.  Cover charge gets you a copy of the EP.

If you are a frequent reader of Dying Scene, you are well aware of the pop-punk band Margate and their Room 57 covers project. For you newcomers, Margate have been releasing one cover song per week as part an ongoing web series. You can stream all of the past videos on their Youtube Channel.

DS Exclusive: Margate details new album “Rock ‘n Roll Reserve”, stream new single

Pop-punk fans, if you haven’t heard of Margate yet, it’s time to take notice.  This Los Angeles based three piece has been making quite a name for themselves lately and today we’re stoked to bring you an exclusive stream of their newest single “Live It Up,” which you can listen to right here.

“Live It Up” will appear on the band’s upcoming EP, “Rock ‘n Roll Reserve,” which will be released July 26th on the band’s own Room 57 Records.  It was recorded and produced by Margate and Paul Miner (ex-bassist for Death By Stereo, engineer for New Found Glory, Thrice, Atreyu, etc…) at Buzzbomb Sound Labs in Orange, CA.  The tracklisting and cover art can be found here.

Margate has two prior full-length albums, “Songs In The Key Of Awesome” (2006) and “On The Other Side” (2009).

Margate recently held a fundraising drive to support the production of the new EP, which was just recorded in North Hollyood.  A track listing and artwork should be available soon, and currently the band aims to release the record sometime in July.
