The Smith Street Band release music video for “Surrender”

Aussie folk-punks The Smith Street Band have put out a new music video for their song “Surrender.” The video is quite the messy one, and was shot all in one take. Check it out below.

The song is off the band’s upcoming album, Throw Me In The River, which is due out on October 28th through SideOneDummy (US), October 31st on Uncle M Music (Europe) and Poison City Records (Australia), and November 3rd via Banquet Records (UK).

The Smith Street Band today kick off the European portion of their UK/EU tour with The Menzingers and The Holy Mess. Check out the remaining dates/locations below the video.

Australian folk-punks The Smith Street Band have revealed some details surrounding their long-awaited new album. Titled Throw Me In The River, the record will be released on October 28th through SideOneDummy (US), October 31st on Uncle M Music (Europe) and Poison City Records (Australia), and November 3rd via Banquet Records (UK).

Prior to the album’s release, the band will be touring Europe and the UK with The Menzingers and The Holy Mess. Dates and locations you’ll be able to catch the 3 bands at can be found below.

We’ll keep you posted as more details surrounding Throw Me In The River come to light – especially those regarding its US release. The Smith Street Band last released an EP entitled Don’t Fuck With Our Dreams in August, 2013.

The Bennies release music video for “Anywhere You Wanna Go”

Melbourne ska punk outfit The Bennies have released a music video for their song “Anywhere You Wanna Go” and you can check it out below.

The footage was shot in Osaka during their 2013 Japanese tour and the song is off their most recent album Rainbows in Space, which was released on November 4th, 2013 via Poison City Records.



Studio Update From The Smith Street Band

Australia folk-punks The Smith Street Band are currently in the studio working on a new album, and we’re getting a closer look at the process, thanks to theMusic.com.au.

Drummer Chris Cowburn gives readers an insight into the recording process, and how it’s a little different this time:

“This is also the first time we’ll all be living together to work on an album… so we’re all gonna be very close to it. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing at the moment, but we all spend a ridiculous amount of time together anyway so I’m sure we’ll be fine!”

The new album from The Smith Street Band doesn’t have a name or a release date yet, but Cowburn expects the first new song to be out within the next month of two.

The Gifthorse reform; announce new LP ‘Give My Body to This Town’

Having broken up in 2010, Brisbane’s punk-rock powerhouse The Gifthorse have officially reformed and announced that they will be releasing a brand new album. Titled Give My Body Back to This Town, the record is set to be released on August 22, 2014 via Poison City Records. The band has released a teaser video for the album which you can watch below.

Give My Body To This Town will be the follow up to the band’s 2009 From The Floor Up EP. 



The Bennies and Morning Glory announce Australian tour

Melbourne ska punk outfit The Bennies and NYC-based revolution rockers Morning Glory have announced a run of Australian tour dates together this coming September. You can check out the list of dates and locations below.

The Bennies last released Rainbows in Space on November 4, 2013 via Poison City Records, while Morning Glory will be touring in support of their new album, War Psalms, which was released on March 4, 2014 through Fat Wreck Chords



The Smith Street Band to record new album with Jeff Rosenstock

Australia folk-punk outfit The Smith Street Band (whom many of our American readers may recal from their direct support spot on Frank Turner‘s 2013 Tape Deck Heart tour) are fresh off the road from a UK/Europe tour and they’re slated to start a tour Down Under with Violent Soho next month are planning to be busy in the studio too!

The four-piece have announced plans to enter Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne to record their third album with Matt Voigt and Sam Johnson. The project will be produced by the one-and-only Jeff Rosenstock of Bomb The Music Industry! fame. Stay tuned for more news on this one, kids!

Tasmania’s Luca Brasi are streaming a new song entitled “Borders and Satellites,” which will be appearing on their newly announced sophomore album “By a Thread.”
