DS Exclusive: At Face Value Premieres Video for “Cinderella” From Upcoming EP

Baltimore, Maryland’s At Face Value (formally just Face Value) has a new album coming out later this Spring and to get you hooked, they sent over the debut music video from the upcoming EP Ivy & Echo. When we asked the lads about the video for the song, bassist Grayson Ross told us “’Cinderella’ was our first jab at writing a lighthearted party song. We came to a consensus that most of our songs are pretty sad or angry, so we wanted to mix it up. In the past, any attempt at writing a ‘merry’ song, seemed so cheese-ball. So, I started with the line ‘Tonight I’ll be, out back kicking it with old friends, listening to every song you can’t stand’. From there it formed into this loose story about getting over a negative situation through friendship. The name ‘Cinderella’ is an inside joke because I kept confusing our interim song title, ‘Skippity-BAM-BAM’ with ‘Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo’, which is how we got to ‘Cinderella’. We wanted a sort of Cinderella story with the video. We had a parkour gym location with Walmart animal mask, and just combined these in a cauldron with a hint of “The Wiggles” and what came out was this crazy, wonky, fast video.” Check it out below!

When we asked the lads about the track, they told us “We wrote this song a couple of years ago. It’s been in our set for a while and it’s good to get it out. It’s called ‘Die Tryin” because it’s about making the most out of what’s at our disposal, mutual aid and focusing my life on something other than trying to be rich. We’re currently on our way to start a tour of Japan with the world’s prettiest punk band ActionMen and are cacking our pants with excitement.” So, if you’re in the path of said tour (and don’t mind the smell of soiled pants) head on out and support the scene. DS Exclusive: Fare Game (Skate Punk) Premieres Debut EP

When it comes to punk rock, the talent pool in Los Angeles is one of the deepest in the country. Every neighborhood from the docks of San Pedro to the sleepy desert towns of The Antelope Valley, boasts its own small, locally grown act that in other cities, would be headliners. Fare Game is a perfect example of such a band. In the few months that they’ve been a tangible band, they’ve played a ton of local shows (as well as two festivals) and quickly become favorites in the local scene. Featuring former members of LightSpeedGo and Kill Radio (among others), this quartet seeps talent and experience from their pores, and with a blue collar work ethic, they are already well on their way to becoming one of LA’s premium punk acts. Today, we’re pleased to premiere this emerging young act’s debut EP, Breakin’ Rules in it’s entirety! The six and a half track album (ya don’t get full credit for “30 Sec Song”, sorry guys!) is the perfect introduction! Check it out, exclusively here at Dying Scene, below!
