Against Me! extend North American tour

Against Me! have been pretty busy touring in support of Transgender Dysphoria Blues, and they aren’t stopping any time soon. The band just added a slew of dates on to their North American tour, including a bunch of shows alongside The Gaslight Anthem. Check them out below.

New Jersey’s The Gaslight Anthem have just released “Rollin’ and Tumblin'”, a track off of their upcoming album Get Hurt which is set for release on August 19 via Island Records. The song is available for free streaming here.

Get Hurt is the group’s fifth studio album and is their first release since 2012’s Handwritten.

“Rollin’ and Tumblin'” is taken from The Gaslight Anthem’s upcoming album Get Hurt, which will be released on August 19th on Island Records.

Molly and the Zombies (The Gaslight Anthem, Plow United, The Cardinals) stream Red Bull Sound Select Sessions; announce headlining show

Molly and the Zombies (featuring The Gaslight Anthem‘s Brian Fallon, Plow United‘s Brian McGee, Ryan Adams and The Cardinals’ Catherine Popper, and Randy Schrager) are streaming a five song session that they recorded at the Red Bull Sound Select studios. You can give a listen to the entire thing here.

The band has also teamed up with Red Bull for their first ever headlining show at The Bell House in Brooklyn featuring opening support from Dave Hause and Jared Hart of The Scandals. Tickets will not be sold in advance, and will be $10 at the door, although you can RSVP for $3 tickets right here.


The Gaslight Anthem plan late summer release for new album

According to a recent interview-ish article published by Rolling Stone, the guys in The Gaslight Anthem are planning on having their new album out near the end of summer 2014. Here’s an excerpt from the article in question:

The band spent six and a half weeks recording their fifth studio album (due in the late summer) at Blackbird Studio in a string of the sessions frontman Brian Fallon describes as “completely different than anything we had ever done before.”

“Instead of going that extra step of just adding some organ or some background vocals, this time we actually really changed up a lot of the sounds,” he explains (the band gave RS an exclusive look behind the recording process). “There are certain new songs where you might say, ‘Oh, that could have been on Handwritten,’ or ‘That could have been on 59 Sound,’ but there are some songs where you’re going to be like, ‘This has never been touched by this band before.’”

The Gaslight Anthem have released a cover of twopointeight‘s “This Is Where We Part”. What’s curious about this cover is that the original song has yet to be released- it will appear on twopointeight’s upcoming album, which happened to be produced by The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon.

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get. We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs. Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs. Good or bad. Intriguing or mundane. We’ll let you be the judge.

Today’s cover comes from The Gaslight Anthem and they’re rendition of “Anywhere I Lay My Head by Americana folk/blues/everything icon Tom Waits. The original appeared on Tom Waits’ 1985 album Rain Dogs, while the Gaslight Anthem recently released this cover as as a single for part of their “45 RPM Club”.

The Gaslight Anthem finish new album, producer revealed

The Gaslight Anthem announced on their Facebook page yesterday that they have finished recording their new album, which is the follow-up to 2012’s Handwritten and was reportedly produced by Mike Crossey. No name or release date has been set for the new album, but we’ll keep you posted as more details come to light.

The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon will appear on Every Time I Die’s new album

A couple of weeks ago, we informed you that Every Time I Die is working on a new album.  It looks like this album will include an appearance from The Gaslight Anthem‘s Brian Fallon.

A recent Instagram post from The Gaslight Anthem said “Balloons and edible arrangements from the good boys of Every Time I Die… #heartcore.”  If you look at the card in the picture above, you can see it says “Thank you for being on our record.”

It is not known which song Fallon might be appearing on, but we will be sure to keep you updated.  This will be Every Time I Die’s first release since Ex Lives in 2012.

The Gaslight Anthem begin pre-production on new album

Looks like fans of The Gaslight Anthem don’t have too much longer to wait before they’ll be able to hear some new material.  According to a recent tweet from the band, the New Jersey foursome have officially begun their first day of pre-production on their follow-up to 2012’s “Handwritten”.

According to a recent post on bassist Alex Levine’s Twitter page, The Gaslight Anthem have begun demoing new music for a new full-length album.
