Bud Gaugh leaves Sublime With Rome, Josh Freese might be their new drummer

Sublime With Rome drummer Bud Gaugh announced in an interview earlier tonight at their performance at the 22nd annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas that he will be leaving the band as he’s expecting a baby and is planning to focus his time on his family.

We wish Bud good luck and want to say congratulations to his new child. Yes, we’re sad to hear that he’s leaving, but this is not the end of Sublime With Rome. Bassist Eric Wilson said in the KROQ interview that Josh Freese (The Vandals, Devo, Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, touring member of Nine Inch Nails, and session musician of The Offspring, Social DistortionSuicidal Tendencies, etc.) might take Bud’s place.

Earlier this year, Sublime With Rome released Yours Truly on Fueled By Ramen. Almost exactly a month ago, we reported that the band was either working on a new album or a different project.

Sublime With Rome cancel some dates, bassist Eric Wilson to undergo treatment for injury

Sublime With Rome have apparently canceled some upcoming concerts so that bassist Eric Wilson can receive treatment for a nagging shoulder injury. The band explains in a statement on their website:

“Unfortunately, due to a reoccurring shoulder issue for Eric, we have to cancel some of our shows in early September (Atlantic City, Gilford, Wallingford, Clifton Park & Rochester) so he can have another procedure done. We love this part of the country and were really looking forward to playing for our fans there. We will get new dates scheduled next year so we can come back and rock! We are still playing the FBR15 show in NYC after the Unity Tour with 311 ends.”

We hope you get well soon, Eric!

Cover Art Battle: Alkaline Trio, Sublime With Rome, Earth Crisis and more… GO VOTE!!

Remember when buying an album meant something more than adding a dozen audio files to an already endless collection of impersonal mp3s? It was a time when liner notes actually got read and there was something really special about the art that graced an album’s cover. Well, we here at Dying Scene aren’t letting the art form die off so easily. Whether bizarre, beautiful, thought provoking, or hilarious, each Tuesday we will present the most interesting album covers of the week and let you readers vote on which one you think should win “Best Cover Art of the Week!”

Check out the offerings for the week of July 12th right here and get voting!
