Interview: Matt Ridenour (Hawthorne Heights) discusses running your own label, “Hate” EP, etc.

Hawthorne Heights, as you may recall, recently started their own record label, Cardboard Empire, (after three full-lengths on Victory Records and one on Wind-Up), and made their latest EP, “Hate,” the label’s first release.

HH’s bassist Matt Ridenour recently sat down with IGN (yes, the video game website) for a pretty interesting interview discussing the trials and tribulations of running your own label and how that has influenced the band’s evolving sound. Pretty good read; check it out here.

“Hate” was released on August 23rd, and serves as the first part of a reported trilogy. No word on follow-up release dates yet.

Hawthorne Heights, Anthony Raneri (Bayside), and more contributing to Nirvana “Nevermind” tribute album

September 24th of this year mark’s the 20 year anniversary of the release of Nirvana’s “Nevermind” in 1991, changing music forever. Reimagine music is celebrating this by releasing “Come As You Are: A 20th Anniversary Tribute to Nirvana’s Nevermind” on October 25th.

Hawthorne Heights is leaving Dayton, Ohio, and hitting the road to tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.  The “You Are Not Alone Tour” will begin in Tampa, FL on Sept 8.  Red Jump Suit Apparatus will join the tour’s European leg in Munich, Germany on Nov 26.   You can check dates here.

Ohio’s Hawthorne Heights have released a trailer video for their new EP “Hate.” It’s pretty much some info about ordering the EP with a song playing in the background — which sounds like it could ostensibly be a title track. Check it out (along with their tour dates) here.

Hawthorne Heights announce lengthy US tour

Ohio’s Hawthorne Heights announced plans for their You Are Not Alone 2011 tour, and it looks like it’ll keep the fellas busy for a good chunk of the rest of the year. The tour starts August 21st in Toronto (which is not in the US, I know) and meanders most of the East Coast, southeast, Midwest, and West Coast before coming to a close in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 29th. Nirvana tribute album in the works, featuring Story Of The Year, Hawthorne Heights

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Story Of The Year, but in a recent interview they mentioned that they’ve recorded a cover of Nirvana’s Breed for an upcoming tribute album. It was also mentioned that Hawthorne Heights will be featured on the album, but nothing else is known about the tribute at the moment.

Nevermind was released in September of 1991, and the tribute album is in honor of its 20th anniversary.

Hawthorne Heights announce Acoustic Tour

Hawthorne Heights have released a video announcing that they will be heading out on a “Stripped to the Bone” acoustic tour in January and February of this year. To see the video, and check out the dates, go here.

Ohio’s Hawthorne Heights have announced plans to release a “best of” album titled “Midwesterners: The Hits” on November 9th through Victory Records.

The album supposedly includes the best songs from the band’s three Victory releases, including a handful of songs from each album and two b-sides.
