Davey Havok (AFI) releasing his book “Love Fast Los Angeles” February 6th

Any big readers out there? AFI vocalist Davey Havok is releasing his new book, “Love Fast Los Angeles” February 6th. Check out the book trailer below.

Davey had this to say about the novel: ““Initially I’d considered Score’s older brother to be the protagonist and the setting to be Los Vegas,” tells Havok. “When I recognized the unique character of the young party photographer, I knew Alvin had to voice this tale. I felt it would be fun to tell a modern love story below a harsh spotlight. With LFLA, as with Pop Kids, I’ve repeatedly experienced its moments come to life around me, if not identically, very close – it’s rather unnerving. In fact, just yesterday I was told of a young lady about town who speaks with Sky’s exact faux accent. This is already happening again in the very early stages of writing the third novel. No matter how extreme, life seems to match or outdo my characters.”

Story of the Year stream new album “Wolves”

Story of the Year have officially released a full stream of their newest album, Wolves. In an announcement made last year, the band said “Story Of The Year is alive and ready to fucking destroy everything in 2017,” which the seem to have done with this new record. Being the band’s most emotional and in-depth record, you can find dark themes, fear, regret, and fatherhood all wrapped up in one with this album.

On the topic of the new album, frontman Dan Marsala said:

“Surprisingly it was not at all a nervous process. I didn’t really care if people liked the songs or not, as long as we were into what we were doing. I’ve come to find that I just write music for myself. It’s a very personal thing now. In the past, it was always about trying to win people over and chase a trend. There’s always some reason why you might right shitty music, for a lack of a better term. The older I get, I do exactly what I want. And I write songs the way I want to. I think that will translate and connect with people more anyway.”

You can read a full interview with Marsala here and stream the full record here.

Wolves is the band’s first album since 2010’s Constant – the band’s first album coming off of their hiatus.
