Dying Scene is stoked to be premiering a cool new release for you. It’s from Brogues, which started as a solo project for Shawn Gardiner, formerly of Morning Glory. Brogues’ debut album, “Heart + Song,” will be released due out tomorrow (May 20th) through Paper + Plastick Records. Here’s what Gardiner says about the album:
“‘Heart and Song’ has a theme that definitely dictates the order of the songs. It’s all of the ups and downs emotionally that I’ve dealt with within a span of a year. This began as a solo/songwriting project with no real genre which is why I coined it ‘Loner’s Rock’ – the collection of unique songs and melodies felt internally when you’re alone that have no barrier or limit on emotion or style.”

Milan, Italy based punk band I Like Allie are streaming a new song called “Guerrero.” This track is set to appear on their upcoming EP, The Wounds You Leave, as part of the 3rd instalment of Paper + Plastick’s The Sound of the Skull series.
Guitarist and vocalist Renato Treves made mention of the song’s deep and emotional sentiment as well as his own coming of age tale:
“My abuela played a huge role during my childhood. I would spend hours in awe listening to her tell stories about growing up without a father and helping her mother raise her siblings. She made these stories seem as if they were great adventures. But as an adult I realized how difficult it must have been for her. The song is about this amazing lady and about how she continues to be so strong in front of whatever obstacle life throws her way.”
You can stream the new song below.
This is I Like Allie’s debut release since becoming a full band.
