Refused to reunite for next year’s Coachella Festival?

A year ago, when Refused were gearing up to reissue their iconic 1998 album Shape of Punk to Come, there was speculation of a reunion, which was eventually denied by their lead singer Dennis Lyxzén. Well, recently, there have been reports that they do plan to get back together and are on the bill for next year’s Coachella Festival in Indio, California. The advertisement shown on the left claims they will be playing the Friday gigs, which take place on April 13 and 20, 2012.

For time being, don’t start marking your calendars because we don’t know if the reunion is “officially” confirmed or that the advertisement is fake. We’ll remain hopeful but await further confirmation…

Refused called it quits sometime back in 1998, not long before or after the release of Shape of Punk to Come.

DS Exclusive Interview: Dennis Lyxzén (AC4, T(I)NC, Refused)

In the 1990s, in a place the world wasn’t aware of, Refused created music that challenged peoples ideals and reshaped peoples thoughts on how hardcore punk was meant to be. At the time, the band were just making the music they wanted to, not what anyone expected them to.  As a result they stand as one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time.

It’s now 15 years later and Dennis Lyxzén is still challenging the ideals of the modern day music community. Dennis was in Australia recently on tour with the Bloody Beetroots (WTF I hear you say), and he was kind enough to take time out of his schedule to talk to DyingScene about what Refused created, what punk rock should really mean to you, the good, the bad and the ugly of the internet, and his straight-edge and vegan lifestyle choices. Read the full interview here.

AC4 will hit Australian shores for the first time in April with the Star Fucking Hipsters and it’s all thanks to the cats at New Noise Agency. Head to the bottom of the story for full tour details.
