DS Staff Picks: Top 10 Albums Of 2013 – Andy (mitchattitude)

Hi, I’m Andy and I’m a Dying Scene scribe. I’ve had to overcome many obstacles in my life, but none quite as difficult as compiling this here top 10 list. 2013 has been such a great year for quality punk that narrowing this year’s releases down to just 10 was extremely challenging . The albums in their present order have changed a hundred times over, with many amazing albums not even making it. So if you don’t agree with some releases on the list, your alternate was probably on there at some point. Here goes…

Check out my list below.

Some Christmas cheer: Direct Hit! streams “Caroler”

Direct Hit!, fresh from their van theft fiasco, has recorded a cover of the song “Caroler”, by Dollar Signs. They recorded the track in an effort to spread some cheer, and recoup some cash that was stolen from them before starting the next leg of their tour.

DS Staff Picks – Top 10 Albums of 2013 (Connor)

2013 kicked ass. For every album that’s out there on someone’s year-end top ten list, there’s three more that are just as good. It’s a fantastic feeling to be overwhelmed by the amount of awesome music that people are making.

Here’s my top ten favorites for the year. Let’s keep the momentum going into 2014 (looking at you, Lawrence Arms)!

DS Staff Picks: Top 10 Albums Of 2013 – Ben (Midwest Punk)

Hey all, I’m Ben (Midwest Punk), and this is a list of my top 10 albums of 2013. That’s me in the red Fat Wreck Chords shirt and blue Isotopes hat (pictured with my friends from the Fat Wreck Wiki, who played a big part in my discovery of much of this music).

I love lists, but it’s a painstaking process to make them, because I know I left out some albums that absolutely deserve to be here. Plus, this is only a list of full-lengths, leaving out a lot of really good EPs/singles.

Here are some of my “honorable mention” picks, in no particular order: The Flatliners – “Dead Language,” Five Iron Frenzy – “Engine Of A Million Plots,” Bad Religion – “True North,” Old Man Markley – “Down Side Up,” and Galactic Cannibal – “We’re Fucked!”

I’d also like to give a special shout-out to Todd and Debe at Clearview Records for what I would rank as my top overall release of 2013, the Teenage Bottlerocket box set. Amazing!!

With all that said, here‘s my official list.
