The Mahones announce releases for 25th anniversary

Long-time celtic punks The Mahones have announced plans for their 25th anniversary year. They will be releasing FOUR albums throughout the course of 2016. These albums are 25 Years Of Irish Punk (The Very Best) which will be re-recordings of old classics, is to be released “in time for St. Patrick’s Day 2016”. 25 Years of Irish Folk (The Very Best) will be acoustic re-recordings of Mahones folkier classics, to be released halfway to St. Patrick’s (September 17th, 2016). They are also planning to release a deluxe version of their last double album, “The Hunger and The Fight.” Finally, they will be re-releasing their debut album “Clear The Way” which will include bonus early recordings from back in the day. In addition to releasing all these albums they will release a 25th Anniversary Pictorial History book along with a documentary, and a live-in-concert DVD.

The Mahones release lyric music video for “Punk Rock Saved My Life”

Canadian celtic punk band The Mahones have released a new lyric music video for their song “Punk Rock Saved My Life”, which you can check out below.

The band recently released “The Hunger & The Fight II”, this past September, which was the punk sequel to volume one, which showcased the bands more folky side.

The Mahones are currently on tour in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta until December 14th. Have a look at all the dates and locations here.

Dropkick Murphys announce more dates and supporting bands for 20th anniversary tour

Last week Boston Celtic punk icons Dropkick Murphys have announced that they will embark on a tour next year celebrating the 20th anniversary of their formation.  Today the band has announced all of the current dates for that tour.  They have also announced that they will be joined by fellow Bostonian’s Darkbuster, as well as psychobilly favorites Tiger Army, who will be touring in support of an upcoming album.

Dropkick Murphys last released Signed and Sealed With Blood in 2013 through their own label Born & Bred Records.  Tiger Army last released Music From Regions Beyond  in 2007 on Hellcat Records.  Darkbuster last released No Revolution in August on Pirates Press Records.

Dropkick Murphys announce 20th anniversary tour

Boston Celtic punk icons Dropkick Murphys have announced that they will embark on a tour next year celebrating the 20th anniversary of their formation. The only confirmed date for the tour is at the Agganis Arena in Boston on March 19th, with support from Slapshot and the Fenian Sons, but the band stated that more dates will be announced next Tuesday.

Dropkick Murphys last released Signed and Sealed With Blood in 2013 through their own label Born & Bred Records. Whether the band has been working on any new material yet is unknown, but we’ll keep you posted as more details come to light.

The Basement Sailors (Celtic punk) stream new song “Davy Jones’ Locker

Quinte, Ontario’s The Barefoot Sailors (previously the moniker of one man, now a band) have released a new track called “Davy Jones’ Locker.” Their last release was a solo demo from Dan of The Dead Sparrows in March 2014.

The Mahones announce Western Canada tour

Canadian celtic punk band The Mahones have just announced dates for their upcoming Western Canada tour, set to kick off later this month.

The band heads out on the heels of its most recent release, “The Hunger & The Fight II”, released this past September and punk sequel to volume one, which showcases the bands more folky side.

The upcoming tour begins November 25th in Duncan, BC (and ironically takes Thanksgiving off…in Canada), and continues on through British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta until December 14th. Have a look at all the dates and locations below.

Hellfest announces next year’s lineup

June is only eight-and-a-half months away, but organizers have announced the lineup for next year’s edition of Hellfest, which will take place in Clisson, France from June 17-19. The festival will include a variety of punk and metal acts, such as Black Sabbath (who are embarking on their final tour), Rammstein, Slayer, The Offspring, Dropkick MurphysRefused, Sick of It All, Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, King Diamond, Napalm Death, The Melvins, Converge, Joe Satriani, Bring Me the Horizon and many others.

Music Video: The Mahones – Fuck You

Canadian celtic punk band The Mahones have released a brand new music video for their song “Fuck You”, the 9th track off of their latest album The Hunger & The Fight  II. The video is comprised entirely of photos sent in by fans in the span of 24 hours, calling for a very interesting and cool concept. Check out all the middle fingers in the video below.

The Hunger & The Fight (Part One) was an Irish folk album, paying tribute to the band’s ancestry and musical heroes. It featured original and traditional songs and music, and told stories of Ireland, and specifically Dublin. Part Two brings the journey to America, and specifically to New York City, and the music transitions from folk to punk. This half of the album showcases the other side of The Mahones, and is a full out punk album. It was released on September 18th via Whiskey Devil Records.

The Real McKenzies announce west coast tour dates

Celtic punk veterans The Real McKenzies have announced a string of upcoming west coast tour dates. The tour starts on October 30th in Seattle and will end on November 13th in Vancouver. Check out the full list of dates and locations below.

The band’s most recent full-length Rats In The Burlap was released on April 7th through Fat Wreck Chords, serving as a follow-up to 2012′s Westwinds.

The Go Set announce new album ‘Rolling Sound’, stream new song “Bones”

Melbourne Celtic punk act The Go Set are ready to release a brand new album Rolling Sound later this month. The band is streaming the album’s first single, “Bones,” and you can hear it below.

The Tossers part ways with fiddle player Rebecca Brooke

Sad news for fans of Chicago Celtic punks The Tossers. We’ll let now-former fiddle player Rebecca Brooke explain:

Thanks to everyone in the Tossers, Victory Records, Million Yen Studios, and especially the Fans, who have been part of the past 13 years of music and adventure. The Tossers are an unstoppable force of nature that I’m proud to have been part of for such a long time. I’m looking forward to sharing new music, stories, and culture wherever we all go,

The Tossers, as you’d expect, wished her “joy and success on all the many paths she’ll undoubtedly take” via their own statement on their Facebook page. We’ll keep you posted on any corresponding roster moves as they become available.

The Tossers’ last album, “The Emerald City,” was released in March 2013 on Victory Records.

The Mahones stream “Fuck You” off of new album

The Mahones have a new album full of their brand of Celtic punk in the works, and they are giving fans a little preview of what’s to come.  You can stream the track “Fuck You” below, and you’ll get to hear accordion player Katie Kaboom sing lead vocals for the first time.

The song will appear on the band’s upcoming release, The Hunger & The Fight, Volume Two, which will be released September 18th on  Whiskey Devil Records.

New Video: The Mahones – “Punk Rock Saved My Life”

Here’s a pretty fun way to kick off your weekend. It’s a new lyric video from your favorite Canadian Celtic punks, The Mahones. The song, as you’ve probably all heard by now, is called “Punk Rock Saved My Life,” and it’s the lead single from their upcoming album, “The Hunger & The Fight – Volume Two.” The lyrics are actually super-imposed over a series of dozens of pictures of the band both playing live and hanging out with their friends and fans. Cool concept; check it out below!

“The Hunger & The Fight – Volume Two” is due out on Whiskey Devil Records online on September 18th. It’ll be in stores in North America that same day, and in the rest of the world on October 9th.

The Tosspints release video for “Hollow Man”

Michigan’s celtic punk act The Tosspints have a new album called The Privateer out today via East Grand Record Company, and to kick things off, they also released a video for the track “Hollow Man.”  Watch it below.

The band describes the story behind “Hollow Man” like this:

“A former soldiers thoughts on trying to have a normal life while still dealing with his own experiences, and coping with personal feelings that don’t seem to be understood by civilian culture.”
