Medictation streams new album “Warm Places”

Canadian band Medictation (featuring members of Leatherface and The Sainte Catherines) has released their debut album today.  Called Warm Places, the album was put out through Paper + Plastick.  You can stream it here.

Sadly, this album was Leatherface frontman Dickie Hammond’s final release, as he passed away this past November.

 

 



Leatherface guitarist Dickie hammond passes away

Sad news in the punk world today, as it has been reported that Leatherface guitarist Dickie Hammond passed away over the weekend.  No cause of death has been mentioned, but he had reportedly been in ill health since August 2014.  Dying Scene offers our condolences to Dickie’s family and friends.

Leatherface broke up back in 2012, and their last release was Viva La Arthouse in 2011 via No Idea Records.



Leatherface (uk punk veterans) call it quits

Long running UK punk act Leatherface have apparently called it a day. At least according to this facebook event page.  No official announcement from the band yet but we’ll keep you posted.

The band released their last album, “Viva La Arthouse” in 2011 via No Idea Records.

Remember when buying an album meant something more than adding a dozen audio files to an already endless collection of impersonal mp3s? It was a time when liner notes actually got read and there was something really special about the art that graced an album’s cover. Today, in an industry dominated by iTunes and Pandora, it seems the cover art of an album is getting a little under-appreciated. Well, we here at Dying Scene aren’t letting the art form die off so easily.

Whether bizarre, beautiful, thought provoking, or hilarious, each Tuesday we will present the most interesting album covers of the week and let you readers vote on which one you think should win “Best Cover Art of the Week!”

Poison City Records premiere mini-documentary, “The Weekender”

The Poison City Weekender is, without a doubt, one of Australia’s best D.I.Y. festivals.  Held over three days back in September, the festival offers the best punk rock bands that the country has to offer along with respectable international acts.  Poison City Records have debuted a mini-doco filmed during the course of the 2010 Weekender.  It’s split over three parts, one for each night of the festival and you can watch all the videos, here.  It’s not only great watching but they’ve incorporated  some interesting interviews from various people involved with the festival.

There is footage of a gazillion bands including Lungs, Leatherface, The Gun Runners, A Death In The Family, Break Even, Grand Fatal, Grim Fandango, Paper Arms, The Currency, Arrows plus many more.



Leatherface denied entry to US, forced to cancel tour with Ninja Gun, Young Livers

UK punk legends Leatherface have been denied entry to the United States, and thus were forced to cancel their month-long tour in support of their new album. The reason for their denial is unknown, but their dates with Ninja Gun and Young Livers have been canceled.

The band’s first album in over 6 years, Stormy Petrel, was released March 23rd on No Idea Records.



Leatherface announce month-long US tour and perform “Dead Industrial Atmosphere” & interview in-studio

leatherface-the-stormy-petrelLeatherface have announced that they will be returning to the States for a month-long tour in support of their new album, Stormy Petrel, released March 23rd on No Idea Records.

The band recently stopped by Jack Rabid’s show on Breakthru Radio for an interview and a killer performance of their song Dead Industrial Atmosphere, off of their 1991 classic Mush.

Leatherface announce new album “Stormy Petrel”, streaming new song

leatherface-the-stormy-petrelLeatherface are releasing their newest album, Stormy Petrel, February 22nd on No Idea Records and their own label Big Ugly Fish Recordings in the UK.  You can check out the tracklist here and the cover art <= there.  The band is also currently streaming a track from the album titled Never Say Goodbye on their MySpace page.

The band released their last album, Dog Disco, in 2004 on BYO Records.
