Good Charlotte release live video for ‘Self-Help’

Earlier this year MxPx released a full length and a video to go along with each track. It seems Maryland’s Good Charlotte are going for a similar move. Releasing a clip for each song on Good Charlotte’s Generation Rx, however, is not necessarily a daunting task given the album only has nine songs (one of which is a short intro). This time around, the band have put out a live video for ‘Self-Help’, which is one of the better songs on the album. Love them or hate them (with their Supreme-heavy wardrobes), they carry it off well, live. The video is below.

Musink schedule announced


America’s largest tattoo and music festival, Musink, has announced the schedule for set times and details for the three day festival. Located at the OC Fair & Event Center in Southern California, the 11th annual festival, running from March 16 through the 18, features performances from names including blink-182, Descendents, Lil Yachty, Good Charlotte, Fear, Machine Gun Kelly & More.

Along with performances, the festival also features daily tattoo contests, a vendor village, and the Miss MUSINK competition (presented by Sullen). For the list of set times and more information, including an interview with Travis Barker about the event, click below.

Good Charlotte announce club shows and first album in 6 years

Recently reunited pop punk legends Good Charlotte have announced plans to release their first album in six years; it will preceded by its first single, which will debut on April 4th. About the album, the band states:

“The new album is like our previous albums in that it’s for people who love music and are constantly motivated and trying to live a rad life. Everyone has something to prove to themselves, waking up every day and deciding to change their life for the better and help others do the same. GC has always been about doing this together, motivating each other, finding the unity and energy that exists in taking life’s challenges and coming out on the other side. It’s about being inspired and excited to be both who you are and who you want to be.”

The still-untitled new album is expected to be released this summer through MMDN Records, and will be Good Charlotte’s first studio album since 2010’s Cardiology. The band also announced that, prior to the album’s release, they will play four club shows next month; the dates and locations are below.

The band is playing their first show in over 5 years at the Troubadour in LA November 19th. The band will also be touring the UK with All Time Low next February.

After four years on hiatus, pop punk legends Good Charlotte announced earlier today that they have reunited, and released a snippet of a new song called “Makeshift Love”, which can be heard on the clip from This indicates that the band is going to put out new material.

Joel Madden says Good Charlotte is not dead

During a Twitter Q&A to promote The Madden Brothers’ upcoming debut album Greetings From California, which is due out September 16th), Joel Madden dismissed rumors that Good Charlotte have called it quits, explaining:

“GC isn’t dead just settled down for a long winters nap”

Although Good Charlotte have not officially split up and planned to release a new album this year, frontman Joel Madden allegedly told Daily Telegraph that the band is not officially done, but has no plans to return anytime soon as he is busy with his new project Madden Brothers, which features his brother Benji. He explains:

“We have so much affection for that band and not just for the music but what it gave us in our lives; it’s in our DNA so we can never say it’s done.”

Good Charlotte have revealed via tweet that a new album is to come next year, following work on the next release by side project Madden Bros, to be released this summer:

Good Charlotte drummer to join Sugar Ray on tour

Good Charlotte drummer Dean Buttersworth has announced that he is going to join Sugar Ray (yes, the same band who plays songs like “Fly” and “Every Morning“) on their “Under the Sun” summer tour, which features other famous 90’s bands Gin Blossoms, Smash Mouth, Vertical Horizon and Fastball. Dean writes:

Rumors of Good Charlotte‘s semi-demise have apparently been greatly exaggerated because their bassist Paul Thomas told The Gunz Show yesterday that they will likely begin recording a new album next year.

First, Paul was asked if he was on good terms with his bandmates before mentioning a new record. He responded, “Absolutely, they just got back in America, and we just all talked about getting together next month to have a barbeque and see the studio they bought. But Good Charlotte probably isn’t recording a new album until next year.”

Almost two years have passed since Good Charlotte released their last album, Cardiology, on Capitol Records. They went on hiatus last September.

Joel Madden discusses possibility of Good Charlotte reunion and new album

Four months ago, we reported that Good Charlotte would go on hiatus for a while so that all members can concentrate on their own projects. Well, last week, frontman Joel Madden revealed in an interview with MTV Australia that fans can expect a reunion sooner than planned but said that there will be no new album unless all the members agree. Joel explains:

We’re a little itchy… We said we’re not going to make another record until we mean it. And so, we’re waiting for it to come and it will… Good Charlotte, it’s more than a band though, we’ll always be together.”

Good Charlotte announce hiatus

In news that is sure to make every punk fan cry, Good Charlotte have announced their intention to take an extended break from the band. Benji Madden recently spoke with Rolling Stone, and announced that the band members would like to pursue other projects. The Madden brothers are keeping busy, and also announced their intention to release a compilation entitled “Before The Fame: The Madden Brothers.” Yikes.
