The Holy Mess throw in the towel

After 10 years as a band, Philadelphia punks The Holy Mess have announced they are throwing in the towel. The band broke the news on their Twitter page earlier today. Here’s what they had to say:

“Hey everyone! These last 10 years have been a blast. But like all great fucking things, it must, at some time, come to an end.Thank you if you helped with a show, bought merch, let us sleep on your floor, or got us ripped drunk or hella stoned. We love you. Thank you to Toby Jeg and Brendan Kelly for their support through the years. Thank you to everyone involved at AF RECORDS. To our friends bands that let us tag along for killer shows throughout the years thank you. You know who you are. Steveo has his Crippling Addictions, and Jeff has his Bella Vista Social Club. Go see them play shows if they’re ever in your area. The list of people that had a hand in this band surviving on a somewhat professional level is 16 miles long. We appreciate everything.

T H M 2006-2016”

The Holy Mess’ final release – an EP titled Trash Age – came out on April 1st. Their last studio album Comfort in the Discord was released back in 2014. The band’s full discography is available to stream and purchase on their Bandcamp page.

DS Staff Picks – Best Albums of 2014 (mitchattitude)

Hi I’m Mitch.  Musically 2014 was a brilliant year for punk rock with a lot of really good releases, making my task of assembling a top 10 way trickier than it was last year. I started the process with a top 30 list and have painfully had to reduce it down to something resembling a top 10. I was also quite strict on who I covered so left out bands like Taking Back Sunday and Weezer who have both released their best albums in a good while.

So after a lot of immense deliberation, eternally switching list positions, tantrums, self doubt and loathing while listening to a hell of a lot of great music released this year, here is my top 10-ish. R.I.P. Tommy Ramone.

“Another thing we wanna add is that we will be doing giveaways for people who are there at the start of the Metro show. Some folks are gonna win VIP tickets which will include a table and chairs in the balcony. You will have a waiter/waitress taking your drink order. COME ON! In addition to the VIP seats, we’ll also be giving away some Red Scare relics to the early birds. Cool, right?”
