Xerxes begin recording new album with Evan Weiss

The guys in Louisville hardcore band Xerxes have returned to the studio to begin recording their sophomore album with Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It.) handling production duties. Here’s what frontman Calvin Philley had to say about working with Weiss:

“Evan has been one of our very best friends pretty much since the beginning. We met him for a weekend with Former Thieves years ago in the midwest when he was touring with an acoustic guitar and copies of “52 Weeks.” I was just in Chicago for a weekend and over a bottle of cheap whiskey and an impromptu homemade dinner, we were talking music and he volunteered to do this record with us before I even asked. Truth be told, it came together in a way I could never have imagined.”

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more details on Xerxes’ new album come to light. All we know right now is it’ll be released sometime later this year via No Sleep Records, who put out the band’s debut full-length “Our Home Is A Deathbed” back in 2012.



Xerxes announce new EP “Would You Understand?,” stream new song

Louisville hardcore band Xerxes have announced a new EP, titled Would You Understand? due out June 18th via No Sleep Records. They’re also streaming a new track, “Tremadol,” which you can hear over at Brooklyn Vegan.

Daylight, Xerxes and Foreign Tongues announce short tour

Daylight, Xerxes and Foreign Tongues are going to embark on a five-date U.S. tour in the mid-west and East Coast of that country in May. All the dates can be found here.

Daylight are set to release Jar on April 30th through Run For Cover Records. Xerxes’ latest album, Our Home Is a Deathbed, and the Foreign Tongues’ self-titled EP were both released last year.



Xerxes announce Spring tour dates

Louisville, Kentucky hardcore band Xerxes have announced their U.S. tour dates, which kick off in Huntington, WV on April 12th and wrap up at Bled Fest in Howell, MI on May 25th.

The band are touring in support of their 2012 album Our Home Is a Deathbed” which is available from No Sleep Records.

Xerxes post mini-documentary, “A Night with Xerxes”

Louisville, Kentucky hardcore act Xerxes recently posted a short (meaning 6 minutes) documentary about the band. The short includes brief interviews with band members as well as a live performance.
