A Few (Relatively) New Bands at PRB

Note: because PRB hosts several bands stretching all the way back to the fucking 80’s, we’re taking a little creative license with the word “new” here

Bad Cop/Bad Cop
This four-piece, all female ensemble kicks a lot of ass. PRB attendees were treated to a double dose of their punchy energy, first on the main stage and later at Punk Rock Karaoke. The songs are catchy, quick and the point, sweeping up the listener before they even know what hit them. The vocals are a knockout, and song structure is well balanced and tight with all excess fat trimmed away. It’s a sound that’s both fresh and experienced. BC/BC recently released a 7” entitled Boss Lady on Fat Wreck Chords, so go pick it up.

Masked Intruder
Where does love end and the felony begin? That is the subject matter for this incognito four piece, which turns syrupy sweet pop punk into pogo-friendly tales of longing from the far side of a restraining order. Hilarious, fun, and offensive. What’s not to love? Go buy their new album M.I. or they’ll fucking rob you. No, seriously.

Cerebral Ballzy
Hailing from the east coast, CB gives up a classic New York hardcore sound that grinds your ear holes into mush. Undaunted by the sweltering heat, the boys destroyed themselves at PRB, ripping out anxious songs of rebellion and distrust of authority without a single fuck to give. It’s music of annihilation with a hook for insurrection. Look for their new album Jaded & Faded later this month.
