Los Angeles’ French Exit have announced they will be calling it quits after playing four final shows later this month, and in early June. Here’s what the band had to say about their decision to throw in the towel:
“You’ve gotta admit, it’s time to move on.”
One of us is leaving to do new things in life – and so we’re no longer going to be a band. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of everything we’ve done – bands we’ve played with, bookers, venues, people whose floors we’ve slept on, and anyone yelling along at a show – there’s too many of you to name. We started this band just for fun, and never thought we’d put out records, play so many great shows, or have other people singing our songs. We’ve made our friends and families during the time with this band. It’s all been ridiculously fun and a huge part of our lives, and we owe you for it.
We have 4 shows left – 5/29 for VLHS’s 4th anniversary, 6/3 in LA with Teenage Bottlerocket, 6/5 in LA for Pussy Cow’s 10th anniversary, and our final show will be Saturday 6/6 at VLHS in Pomona. We’re still setting the bands for that last show, but will update with an event as soon as it’s finalized. We’re going to miss you, and are really going to miss playing. We hope you’ll come out in June to see us and party one last time.
Thank you for everything-
The band’s sole full-length album Guts and Black Stuff was released in December of 2013 through It’s Alive Records. Their full discography is available for streaming on their Bandcamp page, and I highly recommend giving it a listen.

L.A. punks French Exit are streaming and giving away for free a previously unreleased song entitled “It’s Not, I’m Not”. You can stream it below and grab it for free on the band’s Bandcamp. Here’s what guitarist/vocalist Tim Stasica had to say about the track:
“We wrote this song right after we finished our LP. We recorded it along with our covers EP in our drummer’s garage, and it was supposed to be on a 4-way split that still hasn’t materialized. Since we’ve been playing it live occasionally for a few months, we wanted to just get it out there to kind of clear the slate for more new stuff!”
French Exit last released an album entitled Guts and Black Stuff through It’s Alive Records, back in December 2013.

Lots of great bands have contributed tracks to the “Give Back Vol 1 – A Benefit for Chintimini Wildlife Center” compilation. The Shell Corporation, French Exit, DC Fallout, Counterpunch, Gunner’s Daughter to name just a few.
100% of this digital compilation’s proceeds benefit The Chintimini Wildlife Center (CWC) in Corvallis, OR. CWC cares for approximately 700 animals a year, at an average cost of $100 per animal. They are dependent on donations and receive no funds from federal, state, county or city agencies. Please consider making a donation! Every dollar helps. Thank you.
You can stream the comp and donate to the cause here.
