Diesel Boy working on first new album in 14 years, post teaser

Santa Rosa punk act, Diesel Boy, are working on their first album in 14 years. To give fans a taste of what the band has in store for them, they’ve posted a teaser of the songs that they’ve been working on. Here’s what they had to say about the demos:

“Progress is slow because we’re old, but please enjoy four and a half minutes from the first 11 songs we demoed for our fifth album, which we hope to finish one of these years.”

Diesel Boy last released “Rode Hard and Put Away Wet” in 2001.

Honest Don’s selling 30 albums for 50 bucks

Remember Honest Don’s Hardly Used Records?  If not, they were a once awesome subsidiary of Fat Wreck Chords which now seems to be defunct.  They put out some really great albums in their time from bands like The Real McKenzies, Nerf Herder, Bad Astronaut, Diesel Boy, Chixdiggit, Mad Caddies, Teen Idols, Dance Hall Crashers, J-Church, Limp, and more.  Well, it turns out they’re doing a sale of “almost” their entire catalog, offering 30 CD’s or 20 LPs for $50.00.  If I didn’t already have nearly all these albums I might actually pay that.

Random Cover Song: Diesel Boy – Punk Rock Girl (Dead Milkmen)

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get. We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs. Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs. Good or bad. Intriguing or mundane. We’ll let you be the judge.

Today we have 90’s punk favorites and former-Fat Wreck Chords band Diesel Boy covering “Punk Rock Girl” by the Philadelphia punk jokers The Dead Milkmen. Check it out here.

While Diesel Boy has since broken up, The Dead Milkmen got back together to release “The King In Yellow” earlier this year.
