The Class War Kids break up

Today is a very sad day for punk rock fans. Newfoundland street punk act The Class War Kids have decided to break up. Here’s what the band had to say about it in a recent blog post,

“Due to disagreements on the direction of the band, the band has decided to call it an end on good terms and leave a recording/touring legacy to be proud of. It was a blast. The Class War Kids. April 2008-August 2010.”

In their two years of existence the band released three albums 2008’s Strong People Need No Leader, 2009’s Reflection! Rage! Rebellion and the 2010 EP  Twinkle’s  Last Stand on Rebel Time Records.

Three former member of the Class War Kids have went on to form Brutal Youth and are giving away their latest album Spill Your Guts for free.  Check it out here.

Members of Class War Kids form new band Brutal Youth, releasing album soon

Brutal Youth may be the latest punk band to come out of Newfoundland, Canada but they’re far from inexperienced.  Three of the four members come from street-punk act The Class War Kids so it’s won’t be surprising if these guys sound familiar.  The band has a full-length album titled Spill Your Guts ready to release and you can check out a handful of the tunes on their MySpace page.

No official release date or label yet but we’ll keep you posted.

Newfie punks The Class War Kids have posted their entire album, Reflection! Rage! Rebellion! for your listening pleasure on their Facebook page. Spoiler Alert:  the album is awesome!

As an added bonus, you can watch the guys perform the song One Last Struggle in a basement in Germany here.

Reflection! Rage! Rebellion! was released last year on Rebel Time Records.

A Class War Kids punk show in a bedroom. Awesome.

Now this is what I love about punk rock.  No venue?  No problem.  Check out music video for The Class War Kids song One Last Struggle, filmed in some kid’s bedroom in Germany.  They say it was one of their better attended shows.  Ha.

This song, which appears on the band’s last album Reflection! Rage! Rebellion!, is one of my favorite street punk songs of all time and if you don’t give it a listen at ear piercing volume, you’re not giving it the chance it deserves.  Audio on the video is sort quiet so crank your speakers up.

New AntiFa Compilation: Northern Agression: Project Boneyard Volume II

irpb2_coverInsurgence Records has teamed up with the Turn It Down Campaign and a host of bands, show promoters, crews, and individuals to bring you: Northern Aggression – Project Boneyard Volume II. Here is what they have to say:

The scene is stepping up again to challenge the spread of fascist propaganda (and bad music) like Project Schoolyard, a lacklustre sampler CD crapped out by a US-based bonehead label in an attempt to recruit youth to the white power movement.

Our subculture has always played to the tune of ‘having a laugh and having a say’. Our message to the fascists: Get out of what was never yours to begin with. The kids on the street won’t be fooled, and we will never abandon turf to self-serving freeloaders like you and the muck you spread.

Fans of real street music: Enjoy the music and smash fascism wherever it rears its ugly head!

Oi! band The Knockarounds and punk band The Class War Kids are among the many bands on the compilation.  Take a look at the Project Boneyard MySpace page for more information on the sampler and campaign.
