Funeral For A Friend break up, announce farewell tour

Sad news today for fans of Funeral for a Friend. The Welsh post-hardcore group have decided to call it quits following a farewell tour through April 2016. You can check out the dates and locations for the “Last Chance to Dance” tour below. Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 18th.

Vocalist and founding member Matthew Davies-Kreye shared his thoughts on the band’s decision:

“It’s the natural end. We’ve done everything we set out to do and way more than I could ever have hoped so I’m not upset that it’s run its course. We all felt that ‘Chapter And Verse’ was a pretty decent full stop on an incredible fourteen and half years of making music together…

So, how do you celebrate a huge part of your life? You play some shows! For me it seemed obvious to go out with both ‘Hours’ and ‘Casually Dressed.’ I feel that both those records distill what Funeral is to a whole load of people more definitively than just piecing together a set from all the records we’ve made. It seems to me that those are the records that matter most and ‘Hours’ to me is my proudest achievement in music with Funeral. I don’t know why but it fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride.”

The band’s last album, Chapter and Verse, was released on January 19th 2015.

Music Video: Funeral For A Friend – “1%”

Welsh post-hardcore group Funeral for a Friend have just released a new music video for their track “1%” and you can check it out below.

On the track, vocalist Matthew Davies-Kreye commented:

The idea for the track came from watching the news reports around and after the financial crisis hit; the anger at the banks and financial institutions that lined their own pockets off the backs of the hard working average individual. Theft at the highest level, no sense of remorse, even in the wake of exposure. Hand outs, bonuses, pay increases… It’s like someone rubbing egg in the face of the honest, hard working people who struggle, sometimes with two jobs, raising a family and only just being able to make ends meet.

“1%” is taken from Funeral for a Friend’s upcoming album Chapter and Verse, which will be released on January 19th, 2015, and is the follow-up to last year’s Conduit.

If you like what you hear, the group is currently revving up for a short tour in the UK throughout January. You can check out the dates and locations for those gigs below.
