The Meat Puppets have premiered their brand new song “Down”, which can be streamed right here. The song is taken from their upcoming fourteenth studio album Rat Farm, due for release on April 16th on Megaforce Records, right after their upcoming U.S. tour, which begins on Thursday, the 28th.
The Meat Puppets’ last album, Lollipop, was released in April 2011 on Megaforce Records.

The Meat Puppets have announced that they will be releasing a new album called Rat Farm on April 16th on Megaforce Records. It will be their fourteenth studio album in their career, their first with singer/guitarist Kurt Kirkwood’s son Elmo (also the nephew of Cris, who is the band’s bassist and Kurt’s brother) and marks the return of drummer Shandon Sahm (who played on 2000’s Golden Lies).
Prior to the release of Rat Farm, the Meat Puppets will embark on a U.S. tour from March to April. All the dates can be viewed here as well as the record’s track listing.

Since we’ve been covering news on Black Flag and their reunion(s) lately, I thought about sharing a video clip of SWA, Saccharine Trust, Meat Puppets, Minutemen and Hüsker Dü (pictured at left) performing live at The Stone in San Francisco, California on January 5, 1985. At the time of this performance, all those bands were on SST Records, a label owned by Black Flag founder and guitarist Greg Ginn.
