Banner Pilot “slowly” working on new music

We’ve heard very little from Banner Pilot since they announced plans to record a new album two years ago. But according to a recent post on the band’s Facebook page, they have begun “slowly” working on new music once again and will be playing some shows soon.

We’ll keep you posted as more details come to light on Banner Pilot’s plans for 2017 and beyond. The band’s last album Souvenir was released in 2014 through Fat Wreck Chords.

Random Cover Song: Banner Pilot – “Ever Fallen in Love” (Buzzcocks)

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.  We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs.  Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs.  Good or bad.  Intriguing or mundane.  We’ll let you be the judge.

Today’s cover comes in the form of Minneapolis punk act Banner Pilot‘s take on “Ever Fallen in Love” originally written and recorded by the Buzzcocks. The Buzzcocks version was released on their 1978 album Love Bites, while Banner Pilot’s cover was originally released on their debut EP, Pass the Poison although it has since been removed from recent pressings.

You can compare and contrast both versions of the song below.
