Somos announce passing of guitarist, and release of new album

Boston’s Somos recently suffered a terrible loss when their guitarist Phil Haggerty passed away last week.  To celebrate his life and to help out Phil’s family, the band opened up the pre-orders for their upcoming album early, with all the proceeds going to cover the funeral expenses.  We are a little late in getting this news to you, but are happy to report the band already raised enough money to cover those expenses.  The band has kept the pre-order up, with all remaining proceeds going to the Heather Heyer Foundation.

If you want to pay your respects and help out a great cause, take a listen to the two songs the band has released, and consider pre-ordering a copy of Prison On A Hill, which is set to be released on September 27th via Tiny Engines.  You can listen to “Mediterranean” and “Dreamless” below.

Have Mercy stream new single “Collider”

Baltimore rockers Have Mercy just premiered their new single, “Collider” via Noisy. The song is unusually heavy, yet also somewhat dreamy. Interestingly, the band’s frontman, Brian Swindle, told Noisy that it doesn’t necessarily mean a change in direction for the band.

“This song came out of nowhere. We were rehearsing for our spring tour and started jamming on these simple three chords. It ended up just being this tad bit heavier version of Have Mercy. Will this reflect what our next album may sound like? Not at all. But I definitely think it’s a cool song to bang your head to.”
