The Urge release first song in 4 years “How Does It Feel”

Alternative/ska/reggae/punk rockers The Urge have released their first song in four years “How Does It Feel”, and it’s available for purchase/streaming on iTunes, and Google Play.

Whether “How Does It Feel” will serve as a one-off single, or appear on the next Urge album, which will be their first since 2013’s Galvanized, is unknown, but we’ll keep you posted as more details come to light.

Random Cover Song: The Urge – “Gene Machine” (Bad Brains)

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get. We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs. Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs. Good or bad. Intriguing or mundane. We’ll let you be the judge.

Tonight’s cover comes from the St. Louis-based alternative rock/ska/reggae band The Urge and their cover version of Bad Brains‘ “Gene Machine”. The original version is taken from the Bad Brains’ seminal 1989 album Quickness, while The Urge’s version appears on their 1998 album Master of Styles.

You can listen to both versions of “Gene Machine” below.
