Debt Neglector releases music video for “Go Fund Yourself”

Orlando punk act Debt Neglector have released a music video for their scathing new track “Go Fund Yourself” off their upcoming EP The Kids Are Pissed due out October 26 via Smartpunk Records.

Speaking of the track the band states:

“[Go Fund Yourself] is one of the more pissed-off sounding songs on the record. We wanted to do something angry and driving, but not necessarily fast. We were shooting for almost an updated take on an early 80s West Coast hardcore vibe. There’s lots of feedback and dissonance, but some melody in there, too. It’s about the despicable state of our country’s healthcare system. Insurance companies are raking in profits while diabetics are dying because they can’t afford insulin. People avoid going to get help when they’re sick because the bills and debt will haunt them and then they end up dead. It’s insane to me that Democrats and Republicans both approve military spending bill after military spending bill as if there’s an endless source of funds, then say, ‘Oh we don’t have the money for universal healthcare.’ It’s gross. And then families are forced to crowdfund their kid’s cancer treatment. Or go bankrupt in the process of trying to stay alive. It’s fucking dystopian.”

DS Exclusive: Debt Neglector Premieres Music Video For Title Track From Upcoming LP Atomicland

Orlando, Florida’s Debt Neglector has sign with Smartpunk Records just in time to release their debut full length which is out on August 18th. From what we’ve heard this one’s gonna rip. Our suspicions were reinforced when we found out that the twelve track LP clocks in just under thirty minutes! Since we’ve still got a few weeks ’til the album drops, we begged the guys to let us premiere the debut video from the impending AtomiclandWhen asked about the video for the title track, Guitarist Chris Pfister told us “We try to maintain as much of a DIY, in-house mentality as much as possible. Between the four of us we bring a pretty well balanced mix of skill sets integral to being in a band: from art to merch and video production. Zach (Anderson, drums) is the video guy, he made this himself, with the help of our good friend Michael Eliassen and bunch of free stock video clips from the Cold War.” Point your peepers at Zach’s masterpiece below.

Orlando punks Debt Neglector announce debut album, stream first single

If you’ve never heard of Debt Neglector, now’s the time to check them out. They’re a relatively new punk band hailing from my home state, sunny Florida. Most notably, their lineup features former New Mexican Disaster Squad bassist Alex Goldfarb. The band’s debut album Atomicland releases August 18th through Smartpunk Records. I highly recommend giving the title track a listen here.
