Cranking and Skanking Fest primer

Today’s the day! The Cranking and Skanking Fest in Worcester, MA kicks off in just a few hours. Headlined by The Mighty Mighty BossTones and featuring Toots and the Maytals, The Bouncing Souls, Fishbone, The Pietasters, and The Planet Smashers. It’s an impressive list of ska punk legends.

I am hoping to give you a glimpse at some of the New England locals that should have you getting to the festival a little early and potentially sneaking off to the indoor stage. Included in this list are Michael Kane and the Morning Afters, The Hempsteadys, Sweet Babylon, Color Killer, Senior Discount, and The Doped Up Dollies. Many of who have released new albums which could be showing up on some year end lists.

Check out some highlights from these bands below.

Sweet Babylon last released Ideal Personality in the summer of 2015. Which can only mean that summer time is Sweet Babylon time.
