Silverstein stream new acoustic EP “The Afterglow / Aquamarine”

Canadian post-hardcore veterans (Rise Records) Silverstein have just released a new acoustic EP which features acoustic versions of “The Afterglow,” and “Aquamarine.”

These two tracks come off of their most recent release of “Dead Reflection” which according to the band, “ is the culmination of Silverstein’s sonic growth and the personal journeys entangled in the band’s 18 year career, so the shift to a reflective sound on the new EP felt appropriate.”

Furthermore, the band’s vocalist Shane Told notes, “it’s not easy to take a screaming-heavy hardcore part and turn it into an emotional part that your Mom would be into, but we love that challenge. It’s cool to see a song that’s only ever been thought of one way in a completely different light.”

You can stream the EP here.

Senses Fail premiere new “Behind the Scenes” documentary on making of “If There Is Light, It Will Find You”

Punk icons Senses Fail have just premiered their new documentary on the making of their new record “If There Is Light, It Will Find You.” According to Buddy Nielsen, “This record was a very personal experience for myself and my family, as the recording process happened directly after the birth of my daughter. Most of the record reflects on what it was like to deal with the complications associated with my wife’s birth. We were fortunate to have our friend there to document the birthing process and show what a natural birth can be like. One of the most important things in this small documentary is to counter the idea portrayed in the movies of how birth works. Even with the complications that we had the process was beautiful and intimate and some of the most connected times I’ve had as a human. We are happy to share our experience in birth and music and invite the world in to see how art and life are made.”

Senses fail stream new song “New Jersey Makes, The World Takes”

Senses Fail have released a new song off of their upcoming album, If There Is Light, It Will Find You. The track is called, “New Jersey Makes, The World Takes” and it is all about the nasty grip that addiction can have on some, particularly with Nielsen’s own experiences. On the subject, Nielsen says:

Over the years, I have lost a number of friends to drug addiction,” says Nielsen, the remaining original member in the band’s 16-year history. “This song addresses those losses and how I have tried to intervene in people’s addictions over the years. As someone who has battled addiction, I know that the change has to come from within. While support and resources are very important, it is ultimately a decision that is on the person who is battling. So many of us in this country have a friend or loved one who has lost their battle, and I thought it was important to highlight that struggle.

This is reflective of the tone and sounds in this song and is an important theme to the album overall in an effort to keep things “real” and down to earth-relatable.

You can listen to the song below.

Senses Fail premiere video for new song “Gold Jacket, Green Jacket…”

Senses Fail have released a brand new song and video for their latest single, “Gold Jacket, Green Jacket…” off of their upcoming album, If There Is Light, It Will Find You. The track is one of 12 on the band’s anticipated 7th album, which is set to be released through Pure Noise Records.

On the topic of the new song, vocalist Buddy Nielsen says:

This song is an attempt to give a voice to the millions of people struggling everyday to follow their dreams and passions. We as a generation have endured and sacrificed much more than our elders give us credit for. War, climate change, mass shootings, economic uncertainty and crippling debt are just some of the struggles that we have been handed by the generation before us, all while be told we aren’t doing enough to succeed. Despite all this we are strive to do whats right, follow our hearts and try to leave this world a better place.

Fans will already notice the band returning to their original roots in both sound and ability to push lyrical and musical boundaries. Changes in Nielsen’s life over the past few years have fuelled the fire of this record directly and fans will be pleased to hear what is now Nielsen’s first ever attempt at writing an entire record alone.

You can check the video out below. Pre-orders for the album are currently being taken here.

If There Is Light, It Will Find You is scheduled for release on February 18th and will serve as a follow-up to the band’s 2017 acoustic EP, In Your Absence.
