Live Video: The Mahones – “Celtic Pride/Drunken Lazy Bastard” from Boston (3/15/13)

For those of you still nursing your St. Paddy’s Day hangover three days later, here’s a pretty rad story for you.

As you may know, the legendary Mahones opened for Dropkick Murphys at the TD Garden in the Dropkicks’ hometown of Boston last Saturday. The event was noteworthy for numerous reasons, chief among them the fact that it marked the first time that The Mahones played their song “Celtic Pride” at the home of the Boston Celtics.

You see, the 17,000-seat TD Garden doubles as the home for both the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. “Celtic Pride” was written in honor of the Boston Celtics and was specifically to be used in the 1996 film, “Celtic Pride,” which was the last formal event at the old Boston Garden. An added bonus? Yours truly was an extra in the movie (though truthfully, I’ve never seen it). Anyway, click here to watch the Mahones perform “Celtic Pride,” as well as “Drunken Lazy Bastard,” from that show, as filmed by Meat TV. Slainte!
