Show Review: Bad Cop/Bad Cop at VLHS in Pomona, CA (8-23-14)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Bad Cop/Bad Cop is an up and coming band to watch. I have had the pleasure of seeing these ladies a number of times and their live show keeps getting better and better. Whether they are playing a large festival like Punk Rock Bowling or a small club show in LA, they bring so much energy to the stage. Most recently, I was able to check them out in Pomona, CA at VLHS.

Their smart lyrics and infectious melodies hook you and make you want to dance. Their latest EP, Boss Lady, was released back in April on Fat Wreck Chords and has helped bring them international attention. The band has an active social media presence and have posted recording updates teasing their first full-length. No release date or timeframe yet, but if their EPs are any indication, the album is going to rock.

The show at VLHS was their last US appearance before a European tour (which they are currently on – including some shows with Masked Intruder). The show featured women in punk and Bad Cop/Bad Cop closed the night with their energetic set. During this intimate show, set in a warehouse, they ripped through songs such as “Rodeo,” “Cucumber,” and “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!” before closing with “Asshole.” The crowd was also lucky enough to hear two new songs – which only makes me more excited for new music and a new album.

I encourage you to check out Bad Cop/Bad Cop if you get the chance and support a great band. Check out the full gallery from their set below!
